hey balto fans this kikki 297

The other day I was looking at some balto pics from the movie and I was starting to think that balto might not be a huskie. Now I know in the movie he says that he is part huskie, but I think it's possible that balto could be part wolf and part german shepard. Like I think Balto has the body of a german shrpard and has more of the colours of a german shepard as well. And I know this because my friend's nanny has a dog that is part german shepard and part wolf and that in the summer it looks all brown and dirty same as balto. german shepards are also known as hearding dogs, well in the end when balt and the dog team get lost he sort of takes controle of the dogs and tells them were to go, like a german shepard moving its flok of sheep and telling them were to go.

let's go over the fact we already know; his mom's a pure Alaskan Wolf and his dad's fully husky. Now i know you all know that already but his features are hardly show as part dog even though he is. He's got fur that does look very similar to a German Shepard's. But lets look at it the way he is; AN AWESOME WOLF-DOG!

I still think that he ( Balto) knew what he was talking about when he said " My dad was a husky who had pups with a wolf" in Wolf Quest. Nice try, though.

Good article, but I'm pretty sure that in Balto 2 he says that his father "Was a Husky who had pups with a wolf".

well you never no he was suppost to be part husky part wolf but maybe he could not have none that his father is part shepherd, his father could be half husky and half shepherd, (my old odg was that and he looked just like Balto but a lilttle more scruffer) and Balto could be just gettin the wolf and shepherd look. really good artcile!!

If u want to know the real story than go look it up!!!! Balto in real life was ALL husky not a mix. To make the movie more interesting the animators just made him a mix.

Eh, the movie character is part wolf and part dog...a wolfdog...(the real-life Balto having been a Husky)...how many times does that need to be said...? O_o And anyway...no offense to anyone but I'm really tired of seeing "Shepard"...that is not a word, okay? It's Shepherd. Shep as in sheep, herd as in, well, HERD. Get it? And for that matter the word Dalmatian is not spelled with an O...I know it's off topic, but these errors are annoying to me and they're everywhere.

Its true that in the movie balto was a husky/wolf. He also did resemble a german in his apperance. In real life though balto was a pure husky. The movies just make balto out to be a mix.In real life balto wasnt brown either ha was black and white like a true husky. but that was a gteat article kikki.

Well, you know, it is stated that Balto is the son of a pure-bred Husky and Aniu, the White Wolf. But regardless of the mix, Balto can't really have a breed, since he's a mutt. No offense, Balto. By the way, I would like to know what ever happened to Balto's father...

In books and true articles, the REAL Balto is pure bred HUSKY... not Sheperd. And, no in the movie he isnt NOT a Sheperd either. Though he may look like one, the animator's choice, was to make him half husky, half wolf... proof "My dad was a 'HUSKY' who had pups with a 'WOLF' (quote from balto 2). There is NO Sheperd in any of the baltos...cartoon or real

It's been explained time and time again. The cartoon Balto was half wolf, half husky. It even says so in the movie. The REAL Balto was a pure bred Siberian husky, and it states so all over the place. Sheesh. I think people would understand this by now.

Indeed, I've never seen German Shepherds used for sledding, so I don't see what the point of his being one would be, unless the message was supposed to be that any dog can do it--which it wasn't exactly. Obviously they did intend him as a wolf/Husky, and that is what he looks like, so there you go. The animation might have been somewhat lazy at times...but I still really like it. ^~ Even if GSD was in him somewhere, he definitely would still be part Husky, probably a larger part. And yes, clearly the RL Balto WAS a Husky. `_`

Sorry, I wouldn't put money on it, Kikki. It is known for a FACT that Balto, yes the real Balto, was a pure-bred husky. The cartoon Balto, was half wolf, half huskie. Jaypaw said it, I also wouldn't hink german shepards make such wonderful sled dogs.

to : Zorro the Coyote, no tigons (tiger/lion) is smaller than both perents. ( but ligers (lion/tiger) are bigger that than both parents) this is very nonsense. it is obviously stated in the movie that Balto is part husky. ( not to mention that real Balto is full husky. )
