Interesting character.

Thank you, Troll Berserker! It all makes perfectly sense now and I understand ^^. Oh, and yeah I'm still working on Alue's mate so you guys can see.

You don't have to change your character just because someone doesn't like it. It's good to take advices on how to improve your character, but as long as it's okay with the rules and has a reasonable backstory and relation with Balto world, you don't have to please anyone. In fact I'm curious about your version of Aleu's mate already.

Anyway, that wasn't much of an argument here. Since you don't know yet who exactly the father is and what is his backstory - you can't really accuse it for being illogical. It was a simple reaction to a rather quick assumption that the character "doesn't make any sense" and then saying that Aleu's mate should've been a wolf. Me and Zilch just made a point that the assumption was wrong and a dog character or even dog-looking wolfdog wouldn't be so illogical at all so Sky15 donesn't have to feel that her character is bad/illogical because it's not a wolf.

I don't think you have to change anything, Sky. Mighty was just offering an observation and some logic to help you out. And I was trying to further explain, to people who viewed her observation as some sort of overly and unnecessarily-analytical criticism of your character (and a presumption that you had to change it, which was never actually stated), that she simply was not doing that, and meant no harm by it. If you don't want to change it, you certainly don't have to. Again, this is a fictional world based on a real one. In a fictional world, you can do (usually) what you want with your own creations, though grounding them in some level of reality (especially when that world has some basis in a real one) is usually better.

In the end, it's your character. Do what YOU think is best.

I'm currently making Alue's mate page now. I will change Amber's bio and just put dog, instead of mixed. I don't want this to be an issue to everyone or cause an argument. I will make changes.

I will only make one more post about this, and then I'm stopping (because I know what will come next if I don't...).

I am not making it an issue, Zilch. In fact, I'm pretty sure I made it evident that the Sky15 is not wrong for doing what she did with this character, and has every right, as its creator, to do with it whatever she wishes. Wagging the finger unnecessarily, either at me or anyone who doesn't simply post a "wow, well done! This is amazing!" will only turn it into more of an issue than it really needs to be. It's tradition, unfortunately, on Animation Source (and especially on Balto Source, apparently) to turn a simple matter like a contrary observation or opinion, posted on somebody's fan creation (or in response to a post), which usually is posted without malicious intent, for the author and/or his or her friends (and often random observers) into a major argument, debate or flame war.

And who ends up getting blamed for that? Invariably, it's the person who simply posted that contrary observation. They are reported and/or accused of flaming, trolling, personal attacks, "making issues", etc. And they end up being the ones exclusively warned. Almost always, it's the immediate arguments and accusations at that person which end up creating the mess which leads to that one person getting warned and maybe even banned. Simply over an innocent observation that the author and/or his or her friends, and random observers, didn't like and were totally unwilling to tolerate. The irony evident in that is so thick that you could cut it with the proverbial knife.

However, once again, that is de rigeur for this fan community. Unless it's a compliment or even an empty praise, it's essentially tantamount to a crime to post anything else.

This is literally just a fan character birthed by Aleu that has a non-wolf father. Can we appreciate that we got to where we are right now just due to that small fact? Yes, wolves are in the wild, but feral / wild dogs exist as well so the paternity shouldn't be the issue it has apparently become. There is nothing illogical about any of this, it could happen, and once again this is an actual argument of logicality on a website about a cartoon dog movie series.

Well of course it's fiction-based fandom and a fan creation, so there is going to be relatively little real-world fact inherent in its creation unless the fan desires (and works) to add realism to it. However, while I am not criticizing anyone here, what Mightybalto1925 says does make sense. Presumably, any offspring of Aleu is going to be, by design, mostly wolf. Not dog. If you follow the storyline, she's a wolf dog...exhibiting more wolf-like traits and appearance than even her brothers and sisters. That's established by the second Balto movie as an incontrovertible fact. Logically, any offspring she's going to have will be (and could only be) with a member of Nava's pack, which are wolves. Not dogs. Not even wolfdogs. They are wolves. So that offspring is going to be, genetically. mostly wolf, if not ALL wolf...as any domestic dog genes would have been significantly reduced as a result of drift by natural breeding.

So while the creator of this character may well be free to do whatever she wishes with the character, it is also wrong to castigate anyone (whether it be Mighty or not) for pointing it out. Mighty never said Sky15 was wrong. She simply pointed out that the character's species makes no sense given her parentage.

Of course, this is the Balto fandom, so most often there is very little sense in character design in general.
