Mate: None. It is thought that Scotty is romantically involved with Martha, but the two are strictly platonic.

Personality: Scotty is a cynical, but even-tempered dog. He's perceived to be snarky, pessimistic, and a bit of a jerk. He doesn't intend on being this way, however, and only tries to get his point across in important situations. All-in-all a good guy. A total sweetheart around pups, however, and a very encouraging teacher to those interested in being sled dogs.
Likes: Martha, laying on the furniture, being praised or rewarded, casual conversations, pups, relaxing on the porch when it's sunny out, brisk morning runs, treats, and occasionally hanging out with his buddies; Balto, Togo, and Fritz.
Dislikes: When he is ignored, Mink and his team, when Martha is upset, being scolded, being left outside when it's cold out for too long, being woken up too early, stiff joints and muscle aches, and occasionally Balto and Fritz when they do not cooperate.
Fears: Fire, failure, being completely useless, losing Martha, or his friends getting lost or hurt on a sled run.
Other: Scotty knew Balto, Togo, and Fritz since they were all pups. Their breeders were all friends rather than competitors, and allowed all of their dog's offspring to socialize together twice a week til they were sold. Scotty was the brainy one, who often did what he could to look out for the 3 "outcasts".
Other 2: Scotty and Mink are rivals. Mink is a teacher of a group of three stubborn Alaskan Malamutes. The two compete to see who will make the better team. Once the town was flooded with diptheria, Scotty and Mink's competition was more fierce than ever.

Role: The coach. A sarcastic, witty guy. He's small, but he has enough sass to blow the entire town away. He's highly intelligent though, even if he is extremely stern. He makes sure everybody is listening when he instructs them, and he thinks it's necessary to repeat the small details a few times so others get it (meaning Balto and Fritz).

Scotty was bred to be a sled dog, but he was considered too small to ever fit on a team. Though small, Scotty was amazingly fast. He would've made an excellent choice for a team, but his breeder didn't want a dog with such poor size to possibly ruin his reputation. Scotty was a very good listener when he was younger, and he was quite the "geek", by how often he'd take notes listening to a sport he could never learn. He pushed himself to the limits, training himself with a natural sled dog drive. Fortunately for him, his swift skills stuck.

But now he's a sarcastic guy who finds humor when others trip up at non-serious times and enjoys instructing. He hates working with Balto and Fritz though, but he manages to come to conclusions with them almost always. Scotty lives with a female Samoyed named Martha. He acts as if she drags him around a lot or tires him, but he really does care about her and he is often seen napping on the porch with her. Others joke about their relationship and how they're "a couple", but the relationship is strictly platonic and neither are interested in a relationship with each other.

Since Scotty is a rather small sled dog, when Mink comes around, he allows his gang to bother him and make fun of his teaching skills in order to degrade him and try to get him to stop instructing because even Mink knows that Scotty is a damn good "teacher" with lost souls of "students". Scotty doesn't mind though. He uses his smallness as a benefit, and he approaches their team a lot and insults them how they normally insult him. When they chase him, he runs them straight into things, or lets them get stuck in his doggy door which happens to be too small for them.

Scotty is very saucy and snarky. He's very straightforward as well, and makes sure the job gets done. It's said that he's rude, but he really just wants to get his point across as he believes others remember things better if he says them in a sharp way. He is much nicer to Martha though, when they're alone and he is a playful and friendly adult to pups, taking on the role of a "big brother".
