Relation to the Balto universe: This character appears in my fan fiction "Reclamation", as a pivotal character.

Story: The Ghost of the Future is not a character who will be appearing in or around Nome generally.  It makes one appearance to a very specific official character in the fan fiction linked above, and has a very specific purpose. 

This character is basically an animal version of Charles Dickens' famous character "The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come", from his story "A Christmas Carol".  Like that character, this one is also supernatural in origin...a ghost, sent to impart an important and fateful series of lessons upon the other character (this will all be revealed to you if you're willing to delve into the story).

The ghost appears as a wolverine covered in mangy, unkempt black fur.  It's skeletal structure presses visibly against the inside of its "hide", giving it a gaunt, emaciated appearance.  It's sunken eye sockets are as black as night, with only the slightest pinpricks of cold green light giving any sign of other-worldly life from within.  The ghost never speaks, but growls and hisses, murmuring menacingly as it paces amidst an ever-present fog which surrounds it, the billowing tendrils of which occasionally cause parts of the ghost to seemingly fade out and then back in.  A glistening line of viscous saliva drips from its fanged mouth.

A pall of gloom and dread emanates from the ghost, as does a supernatural cold, enough to strike at even the boldest heart.
