New comments display - Profiles, characters...

Written by steet :

I made big changes in the comments system.

It didn't really change since the site beginning, and it was poorly coded so that it was becoming difficult to do anything working with it, so I took the time to re-make it entirely - even though you may not see much difference.
It enabled me to add comments to parts of the site that were still missing them :

- Fan characters,
- Profiles (yes, you can add comments on profiles now - although keep in mind not to make them new shout boxes...)
- Comments on drawings, images, fanfics and gamebooks (you couldn't add a comment specifically to one drawing, now it's possible)

I have a lot of other things to do related to this (especially on the moderating side), although I kept it to the strict mininum to be able to release something, as it already took me ages to do this.
You'll see that in a next update...

Tell me if you spot any bug, as I didn't really get the time to test everything.

A little glitch that's come up: For some reason, comments made about specific fanfics or pictures have stopped appearing in the comment list on the main gallery. Can this be fixed?

Congratulations on the new Computer Steet ;)

I discovered a bug in the comments system

It's to do with the "More" similes on the main site-they don't work at all! (The main ones are fine)

for Fan Fiction/Art/ Images it simply Error 404.

For Webmaster and Fan News I get the following:
Notice: Undefined index: numg in /home/steetboris/public_html/inc/ft/news_functions.php on line 14
Invalid news number ( Invalid news number is in a box)

But here's the strangest one-in Fan characters it simply opens another Fan character gallery!

has anyone else had any trouble?

I haven't looked at other places on the main site, The forums are fine.

AS leader
I am going to make changes, but currently I can't do much (I bought and mounted a new computer, and I have to reinstall everything so it's going to take some time)
But wow, that computer is absolutely much quicker than my previous 5.5 years old one, it's really a relief :) I hope this will help me to work faster...

For anyone following this, I found how to specify. You have to scroll down to the bottome of the fanfic's cover page and post a comment there. It won't be labeled with that fanfic's title (unless you do that yourself), but it will show up in the main list for that gallery and the one for the specific story as well.

I agree with dragon tamer now you can't see what fanfic the people are talking about but I like the changes you made.

I don't think the comments for our Profile is wise really.

I noticed something different in the comments for the fanfiction. When people used leave their comments, they had the option to pick the title of what ever fanfic they had just read. I noticed now, that option was deleted or bugged.

For authors who receive comments, I believe it would be best to have that option for readers. That way authors know which fanfic the comment was for.

If this bug or deletion was already said or noted, I apologize. Then let this be a message of my opinion for the comments options on the fanfic section

Say wut?
I just realized what DT was talking about, and yes, it is somewhat of a bother (like in the fan arts, for example).
