What ever happened to the sled dogs team in the original movie? Did they retire or are they still racing?

Kodi's team is a mail team. Original one is a racing team. I think
they didn't show them because they just weren't important. |

Nothing was spoken about the sled dogs in the sequels. However, in WoC
what appears to be Kaltag and Star make cameo appearances during the
EDAS scene. That, and the town's mail team doesn't have any of the
original sled dogs still on it. So, safe to assume they retired
sometime after Balto I and before Balto III. |
