All in all:

-The team who made the first balto film intended the white wolf to be nameless and moreso a "cameo".

-The team who made the sequel used a white wolf spirit (which obviously relates to the white wolf in the first film) and decided to call her Aniu and make her Balto's mother.

It really depends on what you want to believe: Stick with the origional idea of the white wolf or stick with Aniu from wolf quest.
As for an official answer I'm still sure there's no right or wrong answer. The two character pages should remain separate.

I, agree with what JC said. We can't base it on how they look, especially their build. You can take Jenna's structure. We know how much different she looked from the first one to the second one. There's also a scene in Balto 2 where the angle veers off and you see the white wolf on the mountain, overhang thing w/e. and then it turns into mist. Now why would they want to have 'two' spiritual wolves running around. To me Aniu and the white wolf are the same. They may not look identical, but that's not enough of a backup to support it, to me anyways. (:

Actually, that whole "the white wolf had the build of a male wolf" thing is really erroneous. I have seen male and female timber wolves up fairly close. And the difference in build between a living male and female wolf is really so miniscule as to be unimportant and barely noticeable. This "build of a male wolf" thing is something that has developed in Balto movie fans as a way of trying to distinguish, in their own minds (and in discussions of this kind) the very thing that is occurring here: the attempt to give creedence to the belief that the two characters ARE different. As we have seen, it is a matter of contention on all levels.

I fully agree with Draco. Phil Weinstein didn't even bother to watch Balto before he began making Wolf Quest. There is a distinct difference between the two white wolves in the films, including in size. (The white wolf in Balto 1 has the build of a male wolf rather than female.) Perhaps Phil WANTED Aniu to be the same white wolf in the first movie, but based away from Phil's answer the origional creators of Balto 1 never thought up of using the white wolf as an official character with a name. The white wolf was meerly a spirit to help Balto find is true inner self in his time of need; if you prefer believing the white wolf is Aniu go ahead. I still stand that the two wolves are different, as well as many other fans. This is why there's two separate character pages for the white wolf and Aniu, I doubt there's going to be a clear answer. (Even if we did get an answer from the team of Balto 1..)

Well I for one don't consider them the same. They don't look alike from the first to the second. In the sequel she had red/pink eyes and was completely white. In the first movie, the white wolf has yellow eyes and light grayish eye patches, along with black tipped ears. Plus the name 'Aniu' didn't even pop in until the sequel, and it was a different cast making the sequels.

Then perhaps you should have SPECIFIED. Again, I don't see why it matters.

Probably because, if you're talking about member profiles, the fans have the right to interpret things as they wish. Especially with their own profiles.

If you're talking about the characters section of Balto, Balto 2, and Balto 3, the character IS listed as "Aniu" on each section. So I don't see your problem.
