His coat is so white, he often glows in the dark (of course, that could be attributed to the fact that he's radioactive!)

Personality:

Alert, virile, agile, intelligent, powerful, fair, loyal to his herd. Ataneq believes that a great leader doesn't sacrifice the one for the many, but rather, a great leader must be willing to sacrifice himself to save ALL members of the herd, young or old, healthy or infirmed. Because of his selflessness, he is respected and loved by all who follow him.

He has a special relationship with the Spirits, and some Inuit Medicine Men believe that he is a Healer.

When he is confronted and must fight, he always sounds off with a deep, throaty bugle before a battle.

Likes:

Cows, calves, battle, running through fresh powder, being looked up to by all the younger bulls

Dislikes:

Disrespectful young bulls, older bulls who try to steal his cows, humans and their pointed sticks, guns and traps, creatures with fangs, thin ice, losing calves to man, weather and other predators. He HATES it when other leaders have the nerve to let others die so that they may live.

He loathes the saying "sacrifice the few for the many".

Bio:

Ataneq was born right after his mother survived and escaped the wreckage of a plane crash. His mother was one of the few surviving reindeer to make it out of Norway after the herds were showered with acid-rain after the Chernobyl accident. Both he and his mother have traces of radioactivity, but neither of them know it.

Ataneq grew up to be a hugely respected leader among the Canadian caribou, even the Inuit people respected him, and even referred to him as 'the Caribou King'. He is a very fair leader, and doesn't believe is treating anyone in his herd poorly. He treats everyone as equals, from the youngest calf to the slowest elder. He has been known to fight off polar bears, wolves and even Man in order to rescue an injured herd member. He takes special care of the elderly caribou in his herd, teaches young bulls how to be great leaders, and provides a safe enviornment for his calves. He loves everyone in his herd equally. But when his daughter, Kapik was born, he couldn't help but feel a special bond with her, and he insisted she always be near him. He decided that she would inheriet his herd, and therefore, Kapik became a princess.

But when Kapik was captured and sent south, Ataneq was furious as well as insanely worried. He charged one of the other bulls with the task of running his herd while he left to find his daughter.

Ataneq has been searching for her ever since. He refuses to give up until he finds her, no matter how long it takes. On his journey, he meets Prince, a wise old stag who helps him along the way. Litte does he know that his new companion is the father of Kapik's new friends....
