Personality:

Very curious, always in search of the next adventure. Like most foxes, she is very cunning, but can also be a bit of a klutz sometimes if a situation is unknown to her. She’s a proud girl, and loves her unusual coat, especially since she isn’t really visible in the dark or during dawn. Enjoys everything new and interesting and likes examining things. But if she’s in a bad mood, one is better not to come across her, since she can be very harsh, unfriendly and also a little violent around that time.

History:

Dawn and her siblings weren’t born in the forest, as one probably would imagine upon hearing the word “fox”. They were born in the city, but not in captivity, but as free animals. They lived on an old cemetery. Their father was silver fox, like Dawn, her mother and her siblings’ fur had the usual red coloring.

It was unknown why they lived there; Dawn’s mother’s family had had this territory for generations. Dawn’s father had one day just arrived in the city and they had chosen to stay after becoming mates, although many of their relatives wandered off because humans were closing in.

But for the moment, their lives were peaceful. Dawn and her litter mates were born in an old den and spent the first four weeks of their lives there. When they were a month old, they were allowed to go out and explore their habitat. Their parents also taught them how to hunt when they were old enough.

Dawn spent the first few months of her life there. When she was around four months old, she walked around more, sometimes sneaking away from the cemetery to explore the world “outside”. Her parents didn’t like that, but she did it, anyway.

On one of her adventures, she discovered a road. She had never wandered that far, and was immediately interested in that strange kind of thing. She went out to examine it. Unfortunately, a car arrived in that moment and she froze in fear.

But luckily, another young fox arrived in that moment and charged her off the street. She thanked the stranger, but he just raised an eyebrow and asked her if she never had seen a car before. When she answered the question negatively, he laughed and said she still had a lot to learn.

She was enraged by being belittled, but simply shot him a death glare and turned away, announcing she would now go home.

That made him attentive. He asked her if she lived close to them, and she nodded. He said he would come with her, and when she refused, he said that she owed him. That was true, and reluctantly, she accepted and showed him the way to her family’s home.

There, she introduced him to her parents and siblings and he told them his story, starting out by saying his name was Tak. He had been born in a completely different place called “forest”. But they had been forced to move off because it had been destroyed by humans. The rest of his family members and he had set off to find a new home, but they had been separated by some occurrence, and he had arrived here.

He asked Dawn’s father to allow him to stay, and he accepted, as a repayment for saving his daughter’s life.

Two more months went by, and Dawn and Tak learned to get along really fast. They even fell in love, and were happy.

But as they got older, Tak felt like something was missing. Life in the city was pleasant, of course, but he missed his forest habitat. And he also wanted to have his own territory for his family. So one night, he asked Dawn to move away with him.

Surprisingly, she agreed. She loved her family and home, but she also had this urge to see more places and travel the world. So after asking her parents, she and Tak left. It was a hard goodbye, but they were also excited to start a new life on their own.

But luck wasn’t on their side. They found a new forest home and even a den, but they were unfortunate enough to soon encounter a hunter. They fled, of course, but Tak didn’t make it, although the hunter was aiming for Dawn because of her fur. It was mere misfortune, but Dawn would never forget that look in the eyes of her mate when he told her to leave him behind. He couldn’t be saved, and the hunter was coming closer.

So she ran for a long time, never once looking back. When she eventually stopped, she was in a completely different part of the forest. Exhausted, she just curled up in the hollow under a large root of a tree.

To her surprise, she was awakened by another fox. She jumped in surprise and hit her head on the root. She scolded him for scaring her, but he just looked at her in confusion when she stepped out.

She was the most unique looking vixen he had ever seen, with her silver pelt.

He told her that his name was Smerig, and asked her who she was and where she came from, since he had never seen her before.

She answered him very briefly, since she wasn’t exactly in a good mood. To be exact, she was tired, hungry and devastated by Tak’s death.

She just left after a short talk with Smerig, to find something to eat. She soon spotted a rabbit she could hunt, and prepared to jump at it.

Unfortunately, she was spotted when she was about to kill the rabbit – by none other than young prince Bambi, who wasn’t exactly happy that Dawn wanted to eat his best friend. He attempted to stomp at her, but Smerig and Mirakel, who quickly ran up to them, stopped the deer.

Once again, Dawn had to thank someone for avoiding her being hit by something – it felt like a déjà vu. She suddenly was very sad, and didn’t refuse when Smerig and Mirakel led her off.

The two friends told her about who she had just encountered. She listened with one ear, but was actually busy with the memories washing over her.

She stayed in the forest, she was too exhausted to continue wandering, and also too depressed. Over time, she befriended Smerig, who always wanted to lighten up her mood. And eventually, a while after her arrival, she felt herself falling in love again, and she could tell Smerig liked her, too.

She had the chance to start a new life again.
