History -

Fawn Hood ~  Iris birthplace is not known. Fawn life not recorded.

Adult Hood~  At the age of three Iris joined a small but well known group called simply Valitie, which is now unheard of.

Her rank in the herd was the lowest, she was in fact a "Geln", but was discovered to be a "Livl" (which is a very high and full-some position) from the herd, Thuil.

 She was betrothed to Orthalla (the leader of the Valitie group's son) when she was four years old.

But all the Valitie group members detested the marriage of Iris and Emperor Orthalla, for they believed that Iris looked and seemed so unworthy for the part as Orthalla's mate (also a buck called Unta, was hoping that the rein of Othalla would stop, so that he himself (being a very young cousin of Othalla), would become the next leader of the group, but now that his cousin had a mate, an heir would come soon, so ruining his plans for leadership), and tried their best to agonize and distress the young and voiceless Empress, who could not report to her mate and tell him about the bad treatment she was receiving from her fellow deer. 

Yes, both physically and mentally they did throw scorn and anger at Iris, but they durst not make any of their for ghastly behavior to obvious, for fear they should be driven out of the herd by Othalla's father, who was very content with his son's marriage.

Also, they tried to drive the young Empress away from the group territory a number of times, but many of these plan were ruined due to different reasons, one including Iris's trustworthy bodyguards being always nearby and watchful. 

But one night (the night before Othalla had left the group for a two day journey to search for new pastures) three bucks were sent by Leniqu (the group's head guard, and Iris's least trustworthy bodyguard, whom was bribed by Unta) to create a diversion, so somehow the rest of Iris's personal bodyguards would have to leave the Empress. 

The plan worked and Iris was chased off the land, far away and into a quiet woodland. The Great Prince's forest.

Iris, devastated and scared, not knowing the long way back to the group, had to wander through The Great Prince's forest. In that same forest the Empress bore a male fawn, whom she named Malvon.

After secretly living in the forest for a year, Iris found out (while listening to some gossiping birds), that Othallo had returned to his group and becoming ill after hearing the news of his mate's disappearance, moved the Valitie group Eastward, hoping that Iris went that way.

Obviously the crafty deer of the Valitie group had created some false tracks leading Eastward.

Iris, in panic quickly began her journey (with Malvon, who was old enough to travel) away from The Great Prince's forest and East too, but while walking out of the forest, her child's head got caught into a snare.  Not having any experience with snares, Iris tried to bleat for help, but of course being mute she could not.

No help came for hours and the snare began to cut deeper and deeper into the Malvon's neck.

When at last someone came, they did not come to help. Edna, a deer of the forest saw Iris and seeing that it was a strange doe, became very aggressive and began attacking Iris. 

Luckily, The Great Prince was nearby, he stopped the doe fight and asked Iris why she was in his forest, how long had she been there, if she came from a herd, and if so, which one? 

Iris again, not being able to say anything could not answer the questions, and anyway, it was not time for questions, her son needed to be saved.

 But The Great Prince did not see young Malvon in the snare, now angry and annoyed, he told her to be off. Poor Iris was chased out of the forest, leaving her son, Lord Malvon of The Silver Herd, behind...

Relation to the story and characters of the Disney film "Bambi"  - Iris lived and bore Malvon in The Great Prince's forest. She fought with Edna, a doe from The Forest.
