(not open)
Siblings:
All killed
Friends:
Bambi and Herla. She hardly considers anyone or anything else a friend
Personality:
Like all cougars, Korin has a snobbish personality, especially around creatures she considers to be her food. However, she's a completely different cat when she's around Bambi (her rescuer) and Herla (co-rescuer and eventual friend). Otherwise, she's terribly impatient and has a hot temper. Considering she's much smarter then deer, she often gets annoyed when she has to explain things over and over again. Shows her agitation by pinning her ears and swishing her tail. Often growls when frustrated, which sends the hinds into a state of frozen panic. Only Bambi or Herla can calm her down when she gets to that point.
Likes:
Hunting, meat, intimidating others. Really grows an true appreciation and respect for Bambi, but forms a strong friendship with Herla.
Dislikes:
Man, guns, snares, traps, LOATHES dogs, and grows an insatiable dislike (and eventual hunger) for Nacht and the rest of Trar's herd.
Voice:
Tilda Swinton
(Jadis the White Witch---Chronicles of Narnia)
Bio:
Korin was born and raised in captivity with her 3 brothers. For the first year of her life, she thought humans were simply the best creatures in the world; bringing her food, keeping her water clean and fresh and often even giving her a friendly stroke between the ears. She lived with her 3 brothers in a massive outdoor enclosure similar to those that can be seen in a large zoo. No cages, just several acres of open field, trees and rocks. Only walls surrounded the 5 acres paradise, which the cats themselves didn't mind.
Then one day, the human proved just how false the 'paradise' truly was. One of the walls was taken down and the 4 cougars cautiously crept out to explore. Once all of them were out, the wall was lifted up again and, within moments, a group of 13 hounds was released on the unsuspecting young cougars. The hounds split into two separate groups and attacked 2 of Korin's brothers. She and her other brother fought some off, even killed 4 of them and they all 4 tried to run for cover in the distant wood. Then came the gunfire. 2 of Korin's brothers; injured by the dogs and unable to run as fast, were shot and killed. Korin's 3rd brother was shot but did not fall. He and Korin escaped into the forest.
It wasn't long before the shoulder wound eventually took its toll on his ability to hunt, so Korin hunted for the two of them. She proved to be a tremendous killer, despite the fact that she had had meat brought to her for the first year of her life. The only thing worth hunting that could sustain both herself and her brother was deer. She soon became an expert at hunting and killing cervine.
Then misfortune struck again. While out scouting their new-found territory, Korin's brother walked right into a snare trap. Being that both of them were very unfamiliar with human traps and not very forest-savvy, they were both at a loss, not knowing what to do. Korin stayed with her brother for weeks until he finally died. A hunter came to check the trap and his hound attacked Korin. She had had enough of man and his dog, and she attacked and killed the dog. She was shot at, but the hunter missed and Korin took off into the woods.
Alone and miserable, Korin wandered aimlessly for two years, missing her brother terribly. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going, and the still very inexperienced cat wandered right into a steel-jaw bear trap. She screamed and clawed and struggled, but she just couldn't get rid of that terrible thing, which dug its teeth deeper and deeper into her foreleg.
Knowing the fate that befell her poor brother, Korin lay in the leaf litter, prepared to die alone.
One could imagine her surprise when two bucks---creatures she'd become so proficient at killing-- decided to go against all rules of nature and help her. She balked at first, and struck out and yelled at the bucks for their futile attempts, but they helped her anyway, and even, to her surprise, brought her some skinless, headless salmon (discarded by bears) for her to eat until she regained her strength.
Once she was able to, she walked bravely into the midst of the deer herd and pledged her loyalty to Bambi and his cause.
Relation to Bambi:
Rescued by Bambi and his herd.
