OOC: Sorry, a short bit of writer's block here 3:

As soon as the door locked, Trey's canine eyes spotted Melody jump out of a growling position and run towards the vent. Dismissing the fact that if the scientists had gotten in, there was no doubt Melody would have ripped their heads off, Trey brought his paws back down to the cold floor beneath him. His claws clicked spastically against the tiled ground as he raced to the husky's side, tilting his head a the mechanical components of the vent. He had never been much of a mechanic, but he had seen enough building blueprints stored away in his dad's office to know what a drywall was.

He immediately dove his paws into th other side, working furiously beside Melody in an attempt to be the vent open. Distantly, as if in some haze or dream - actually nightmare was more like it - he could heart the furious shouts of the scientists just outside the room. They were turning the handle almost violently, and as Trey worked, trying to focus on the task at hand, he couldn't help but whimper quietly as the sound of a saw assaulted his sensitive ears. They had plugged in various machine counterparts to try prying the door open, and the loud buzzing was beginning to screech unpleasantly into the shepherd's ears.

Finally, he managed to pry off the top left screw, effectively opening the vent at least to some degree. But they would have to get another one open as well. Either the top right or bottom left. Then they could get out of here. But somewhere in the back of his mind, the once-human wondered, What do we do after that? Will we ever be normal?

Mel's ear were pressed tightly against her skull. It was hard for her sensitive ears to handle the attack of various noises. Her nails from digging was bad enough, and then to add the sound of the scientist trying to get in, was almost too much to handle. She was whimpering along with Trey. It made her work quicker though, and she was almost done with her side, when Trey was. She had gotten the right top side pulled out from the drywall.

She hooked her paws over the crack that had opened from their work. Now she had to press as much weight down as she could, along with Trey's help they were able to bust the last two screws out. The metal cover clattered two the floor, Melody gave the scientist one last look, then dove into the vent. She rushed forward and then turned around to make sure Trey was following.

The vents were not too confusing, Melody's sense of smell was so much better as a dog. She could smell fresh air and dirt. She was at a run now, charging towards the smell of freedom. Her dog legs were so much quicker, she felt so light and powerful, she wasn't tired at all. Melody was getting lost in the thoughts of her new body though. She wasn't paying attention. She missed seeing the vent shaft the went down. Before she knew it she was falling through the air.

Melody gave out a terrified yelp, and then she hit the vent shaft bottom, it was at a slant, so it wasn't as hard as she thought it was going to be. However, now the poor dog was on a rather alarming slide ride down the metal shaft, her nails trying to catch a seam to slow her down, but it was hard to keep her balance, and she felt on her side most of the time. She was heading down the slide head first.
