I just found it in Balto's Den. Sorry if there's an already a topic about this.




I think it would be mega awesome if Steele would come back. I'd love to see him again and maybe find out what heppened to him since the frist movie time. It would be also interesing if Kodi would stay and not help his father. Thoi would make him more badass and interesing.

I think it would have been an interesting plot twist for Steele to assist Balto, but they'd have to find a good way to implement it. Definitely not the "Lol let's be friends kk" approach. It would be far more interesting and believable if they were forced to work together due to something beyond their control. Which, given WoC's story, I cannot think of what would have necessitated that. If, say, Duke would have been Steele's owner, and given Steele's previous actions against Balto, Steele would probably try to kill Balto and then try to save his master. As it stands they probably could not fit it in without having drastically changed the story.

Yeah, this was probably too hard to change the story for Steele and keep the original as much as possible, but it would be really lovely to see Steele again^^

I've heard about this. It would have been interesting.

An alternate story would be great for the beginning of a Balto 4, kinda like a "previously on...."

The return of Steele would have been a wonderful renewal but i was fine with Kodi helping out, not his friend though, they suck!

I heard him discuss this in his sourcecast interview. He also mentioned that Steele would go not to help Balto find Duke, but to try and kill him as revenge for what happened to him.

I think it would have been awesome to have Steele come back. That way we would have been able to learn about his current relations with Balto and how the other dogs in town treat him and think of him after learning the truth. Plus, it would have made the movie much more entertaining by having a villain as one of the antagonists and by providing an internal conflict that would affect the outcome of the situation and didn't have to deal with Stella! (Ugh.)

But I still like having the element of Kodi and his friends running to Balto's aid and saving him at the last possible second, so I think having Kodi and his friends save Balto just as it seems Steele is about to kill him would make for one amazing story!

I think it would have been cool if Steele returned as well. Maybe even redeem himself and apologize to Balto.

I've heard about this too... and I'm wondering "Why didn't they go with this?" I agree that the addition of Steele into WoC would have been the biggest "WTF? Surprise!" moment EVER... and it even would have made me like WoC more than WQ.

Other good things about Steele being in WoC - HAD it had happened:

- Less screentime for Stella [or NONE at all - she broke the film for me, I swear.]
- A much better connection to the original movie than just the sport of Dog-sledding [Yeah, seriously. Bringing back a main villain in the series? Heck yes! Also, hooray for canon!]
- More about Balto's struggles and more realistic drama [Okay, so WQ showed off his knowledge of the wolf side and revealed to us that he was still teased for something out of his control. SO... why not bring back one of the biggest bullies, even though he's fallen from grace? Would he choose to side with Balto after three years to redeem himself or would he take a chance to completely kill off the mutt that stole his spotlight? Oooh... such YUMMY DRAMA.
- Add Kodi and his team for more drama and perhaps... personality? [Okay, so the team learned that humans aren't all bad after the one threatening to steal their jobs had his life saved by Balto and them... So what about a former lead dog that had nearly killed off the half-breed hero? Ooh...]
- Closure for Steele [I dislike the dog, but it would have definitely given us an actual ending for his story... and added some personality to him. Has he changed any? What was life like when he was seen for what he really was? Does he still want Jenna, even after three years? Suspense.]

In other words, it would have been an EPIC WIN, even with a DTV release. At least the animation would have been good too. The story possibilities, they are ENDLESS.

As a variation of what I had mentioned before, have Steele come back and ultimately redeem himself as a side story instead of having Boris and Stella. Not only would it remove one of the worse (or quite possibly the worse) characters in the franchise, it would also have taught lessons in forgiveness and about ultimately doing what was right. Maybe have Kodi rescue both Balto and Steele, or Steele going with Kodi, some other combination thereof, or none of the preceding.

Regardless the lesson they were trying to portray with Boris and Stella (I believe it was that it is more beneficial to be honest than to lie and have said lie backfire on oneself), it soured what would have been an otherwise decent sequel. It may have been for the best that they ceased at WOC, as they very well have turned the franchise into another "Land Before Time franchise (which did nothing for Bluth's original film) and destroyed the last shred of decency the characters from the original movie retained. That is just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary.
