Some of you may be wondering "What's a headcanon?" Let Urban Dictionary explain it to you:

"An idea, belief, or aspect of a story that is not mentioned in the media itself, but is accepted by either the reader themselves or the fandom in general. If it is confirmed by the author of the story, it becomes canon."

We all have our own ideas about what's true in the fictional Balto world. Here is where you can post your own ideas of the movies. I have rules tho.

- KEEP THE POST-BALTO 3 HEADCANON TO A MINIMUM. I KNOW ALOT OF YOU HAVE GENERATIONS UPON GENERATIONS STACKED UPON BALTO'S GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND I WANT TO SAVE YOU THE TROUBLE AND TELL YOU THAT NO ONE CARES.
- ONLY TALK ABOUT OFFICIAL CHARACTERS
- Keep your "ships" to a minimum as well. There's more to a movie than pairing characters together. If you can't understand that, I'm going to request a mod to remove your post.
- KEEP REPEATS TO A MINIMUM. WE ALL KNOW YOU LOVE DUSTY/KODI.


Now for my personal headcanons. I did not include all of them because they're either too sensitive a subject or stray from the movies too much.

Before Balto:

1.) Balto's father was a dark-brown husky who won the golden collar several years in a row.

2.) Balto's father competed against a young Steele, who actually was inspired by him.

3.) Balto's father met Aniu and they fell in love.

4.) They lived in solitude apart from the pack and the town to have Balto.

5.) Balto's father was mistaken for a wolf and shot and killed.

6.) Aniu's origins remain unknown, but was found by a wolf pack who simply mistook her for the legendary white wolf spirit.

Balto:

1.) Balto and Steele were childhood friends.

2.) Rosie and her family regarded Balto as a member of their family, tho his acceptance of his wolf side had him desire to live on his boat.

3.) Even tho he's part husky, Balto's father was a race dog, and that's partially what drives him to become a sled dog himself, whether he's conscious of it or not.

4.) Jenna and Steele had previous relations. For obvious reasons it didn't work out.

5.) Jenna and her family are fairly new to Nome.

6.) The town of Nome named Balto themselves, hence why they all knew his name.

7.) Boris did not raise Balto, but still plays as his guardian.

8.) The white wolf was NOT Aniu. It was the white wolf spirit, nameless in its own right.

9.) The wolf pack outside of Nome belonged to Nava's pack.

10.) Steele was revered as a liar by most dogs, he still had his following tho, and Balto his "anti-fans". But he never left town.

Wolf Quest:

1.) Balto never suffered from bad dreams. Aleu did to forewarn her of her own destiny.

2.) Aniu's death was in the fog, hence why its always misty when she's around.

3.) Nava's pack was Aniu's pack.

4.) Nava and Niju continued to travel together after the events of Balto 2. They teach each other survival methods and become friendly.

5.) Balto's children grew up to be more wolflike.

6.) Aleu's destiny was to lead the wolf pack, but it happened too early when she ran away from home. Tho mostly accepted by the wolf pack, she required a lot of help.

7.) Aleu never returned to Nome.


Wings of Change:

1) Kodi becomes lead dog by the end of the movie.

2) Kodi remains single for the rest of his days, living happily as a lead dog for the mail team until retirement.

3) Boris and Stella, while not serious at first, lived the rest of their days together on the boat.

4) Muk and Luk grew up.

5) Kodi's team endured every single hardship a team could face during the race, showing how tough it is to rely on dogs during a modern era.

6) Duke adopts Balto.

Not alot of headcanons for the third movie. Mainly because NOTHING HAPPENED, but "Balto won a race".

After removing a thing or two from the small list I complied for this topic, here's what I've got (in no particular order):

1. Balto’s father died after impregnating Aniu, but before she gave birth. He was killed by the dogs in town, who hated him for mating with a wolf.

2. Aniu was a real wolf, who died after giving birth to her pups. She became a White Wolf soon after.

3. White Wolves are passed down from generation to generation, and are pre-determined by their masters. This means that one of Aniu’s parents was the White Wolf before she was, and Balto becomes one after. White Wolves remain so until their successor dies, at which point they pass on to the “true” afterlife.

4. Balto had several brothers and sisters, but was separated from them in the same incident that separated him from Aniu.

5. Boris adopted Balto soon after he got separated from Aniu.
6. Steele is several years older than Balto and Jenna, who grew up together.

7. Muk and Luk have been cubs for 200 years, but they found the Fountain of Youth during their games.

8. After the events of Balto, Steele became a new outcast of Nome for lying and abandoning the serum run team.

9. Rosy’s family never adopted Balto.

10. Aleu and the fox from Balto II had an encounter that was seen off-screen.

11. Of the six pups seen in Balto II, two were adopted to the same family, Dingo went to work in the telegraph office, and the last one became just a house pet.

12. Aleu was free to return home whenever she wanted, instead of being doomed to never return.

13. Balto had SEVERAL adventures between the events of all three films.

Before Balto:
* Balto's father was a red husky, that's why the red gene passed to most of Balto's children
* Balto's granfather looked almost identical to Balto. That's where Balto got his colours and look.
* Boris took care of little Balto when he got separated from his siblings.
* Boris sent Balto to live in wolf pack after he grew up a little

Balto:
* The wolf pack seen in Balto was Balto's former pack, but Balto ran away from them after finding out he's part husky, and he wanted to live with humans.
* He became known as stray wolfdog in Nome and it was people who named him (Just like Cat said - how else everyone would recognize him and know his name?)
* Star becomes a lead dog after Steele got kicked out of the team for abandoning them.
* Even though Balto pulled the sled and saved Nome - no one adopted him and he didn't continue his sled dog career.

Balto 2:
* Nava and Aniu are siblings
* Aleu gets kicked out of her pack after everyone find out she has no experience as a pack animal, leader, nor even as a wild predator.

I like the idea of Star as lead dog, though I think there would be quite the story to him developing the charisma and air of authority to pull it off.

Concerning Balto's dad being red, is red a recessive gene in huskies?

the red/brown and white wolf helps teach aleu how to be a wolf.

1. Aniu was lead to Balto's Father by the White Wolf from the First Balto,in my view,a Wolf God
2. Aniu was considered sacred/holy for her white Pelt
3. Balto's Parents never started a Pack
4. Aniu's former Pack found them,but didn't attack them by Aniu's Father's Request
5. Except Balto,they had two other children
6. At some point,they got to know Boris
7. The ex-owner of Balto's Father tried to shot Aniu,but failed

Balto
1. Balto gets lost and seperated from his family,but found by Boris who brought him to Nome.
2. Balto had no memories from his earlier Life,except about his Mother being a white wolf,and his Father a husky.
3. Balto's birth name was actually Mukki(Meaning "Child"),but was renamed Balto by the people of Nome
4. Balto and Boris met Muk and Luk while traveling to Nome
5. Kaltag,Star and Nikki weren't born in Nome,they moved there later,same as Dixie and Sylvie
6. There were alot of dogs except Steele who wanted Jenna
7. Steele didn't left Nome,but wasn't used for sledding anymore. He was used for breeding,instead
8. After a time,Balto's glory passed a little,and he was neither adopted,nor truly cared for afterwards.
9. Star takes Steele's place in the team,and later the Musher gets another dog to replace him.

Wolf Quest
1. Nava was a far relative of Aniu
2. Nava and Niju went seperate ways.
3. Aleu gets kicked out the pack after approximately one year.
4. Except at the end,the Wolf we seen was never Aniu,only The Great Spirit of The White Wolf,the Wolf god.
5. Another one of Balto's children left for the wilderness.
6. The Fox,the Bear,the Raven and The Wolverines weren't real animals,each of them was a God of it's own species,transformed into a more realistic apperance
7. Unlike the others,Muru was a real animal,only with more knowledge,likely to Nava's

Wings of Change
1. Stella and Boris get a break-up not long after.
2. Kodi remains single,or better be said,he gets a relationship with his job,only to get pensioned at the approximately age and dying from grief of it
3. Mail teams were later replaced by planes
4. Duke later left Nome for a more career likeable city in the south
5. Likely to the end of WoC,Balto and Jenna get an other Litter

Before Balto:
* Boris was kicked out of his flock and never came back, taking care of other abandoned animals as well(Muk, Luk & Balto)

Balto:
* Muk&Luk already live in wilderness. They just visit Balto and Boris very often. And they stayed in the boat with Boris all the time untill Balto came back.

Balto 2&3:
* Muk and Luk actually grew up and they are bigger and more mature than they were shown in those movies.

Balto 3:
* Boris always knew how to fly.

Pre-Balto:
* Aniu was found either lost or abandoned, and even she didn't know where she really came from for sure.
* Balto's father got lost in a blizzard which claimed the lives of his team and musher, and nearly died himself before he met Aniu.
(I have a lot more about Balto's parents, but I'm short on time now so if you want the full list you'll have to either wait or read my fanfic, "White Legend."
* Jenna had some interest in Balto before the movie, but didn't act on it because
1) It was just a, "He's kind of cute, but not really my type" interest, and/or
2) She chose not to pursue it because she knew Steele would take it out on Balto if he saw them together, and/or
3) She hadn't seen what he was really made of.
* Steele picked on Balto largely because he saw that it fed his own popularity.

Balto:
* Steele was eventually rejected by humans after they found that none of the dogs in Nome would go near him, leaving him useless for working or breeding.

Balto 1 and 2
* Balto's popularity subsided over time when his introverted personality prevented him from becoming a long-term member of any team.
* Some of the dogs went back to picking on Balto largely out of envy or prejudice.

Post-Balto 3:
* Kodi eventually became lead dog (seriously, am I the only one who doesn't hate him for having work ethic and a sense of achievement?) and found a girl who balanced him out without dragging him down.
* The rest of the team learned to take their jobs seriously so they'd have more time and freedom to goof off and be dogs when their runs were finished.
* Balto and Jenna eventually had at least one more litter (wait, that's been mentioned already).

Pre-Balto:
-Aniu met Balto's father at first by nearly attacking him, mistaking him for game.
-Aniu left her pack to give birth to Balto.
-Balto's father was well-liked in Nome, and when he perished in a storm on a sled team, he was sorely missed.
-Balto was very young when Boris found him, after getting kicked out of his flock.
-Balto was well-liked by the other pups in Nome including Star, Nikki, and Katlag but when Steele found out about his heritage he turned the others against him.

Balto:
-Boris is a care-taker for lost young animals, though he is embarrassed to say so.
-Muk and Luk found Boris as cubs and stuck to him like glue since the day they met him.
-Balto rejects being adopted into Rosy's family since he cannot cope with living in a house.

Balto 2:
-Anyone who did consider adopting Aleu decided not to because she was too wild and aggressive for children.

Balto 3:
-Kodi ends up being lead dog. (cliche, I know)
-Ralph and Dusty are a couple, and end up living in the same home.

So I'm not the only one.

I like the part about Balto being well-liked at first. It kind of adds resonance to his outcast status afterward, don't you think?

Pre - Balto
- The White Wolf we see in Both movies was Aniu.
- Balto's Father Was a Champion Racer
- Balto's Father Died from Steele's Mother.
- Aniu Died from A Hunter
- Steele and Jenna had a Relationship
- Steele and Balto were Friends.

Balto :
- Jenna had Mixed Feelings for Balto at First.
- Steele Became Rejected , and Became just a House pet.

Steele's mother killing Balto's father? That's a new one on me.

Balto
Steele used to belong to Rosie, but was sold when he was just a puppy.
Steele is insecure, he actually cares about Rosie but would rather just seem like he's distant from it all.
After Steele leaves Kaltag becomes the lead sled dog, but after an accident he is left being just a lap dog.
The wolf pack Balto sees at the boat was a pack he used to belong to, very shortly, they kicked him out because of his hybrid nature. From time to time they keep an eye on him to see what he's doing.
The geese you see at the butcher's were friends of Boris.
Steel stays in Nome but works for a different sled team, however not competitively.
Balto II : Wolf's Quest
Aleu never has children.
Aniu was Balto hallucinating, his mother is dead and is not a spirit animal, nor was she ever white. He only saw her as a pup and she was covered in snow, then shortly after they separated.
Jenna broke her legs or her personality since she rarely leaves the house.
Balto III: Wings of Change
Star annoys Steele for the last time, after Star tells Steele off, so Steele snaps and savagely attacks him.

Yep! ^^ If not for his wolf heritage, I think that Balto might have been popular.
