For a while now, in preparation for a new project (as well as my comic), I have been "challenging" other Animation Source users to draw this-or-that with me. Since so many people are sick of seeing wolves all over the place (let alone, seemingly only one kind of wolf). First, I had challenged EveryoneLovesKoko to draw the Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) with me. Koko did a fantastic job adapting to the change. Recently, I challenged Netana to draw the Tibetan Mastiff (Do-Khyi) with me.

So, I am now opening up this challenge to everyone on Animation Source -- not just the people who I challenge personally!



Challenge No. 1

Challenge Creature: Tibetan Mastiff (Do-Khyi)
Start Date: Tuesday, March 23 (2010)
End Date: Tuesday, March 30 (2010)

Challenge Rules

? No tracing! I encourage you to use references, but absolutely do not trace the image. I also suggest that you do not use Google Images -- only do so if you must. Otherwise, use DogBreedInfo.com, as they have accurate images of the creatures. (Yes, we will start with canines and then expand. I will be sure to include reliable resources with each new creature.)

? No using other artwork! This is common sense and also avoids infringement of the site's art theft rule -- it's a no-no.

? First entries must be completed in time for the challenge ending -- no late entries! Each challenge will last 7 days (1 week); on the 8th day, I will create a new challenge.

? Post that you will enter the challenge. You can do this by simply replying to the topic that you will be participating.

? Post your reference(s). Post a link -- or the image -- to all of the reference(s) you used for your image, as well as the image.

? Submission: Do not submit your files to this topic. PM me a link! I ask that you draw one full-body drawing as well as one bust (head-shot) drawing of each challenge creature.




Additional Information: I will participate in many (if not all) of the challenges. I find it unfair to challenge someone without also challenging myself. Again, each challenge will last 1 week from the post date. (I will also keep the end date.) You are more than welcome to submit your entry before the due date. If you find your schedule will not permit you to create the work and post before the deadline, do not enter. Wait until a more permissible time to enter.

Submission:
After you submit your entry on-line, PM me a link so I can post it next to your username. DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR FILES HERE. This is to prevent clutter. In the end, I will have by-standers and participants vote for the "best done" (which will not be mine). Should the creator so choose, their images will be displayed in my project!

You also do not have to make a complete drawing. They can be a page of sketches; as long as they are clear and visible, they will uphold to the challenge.

I wasn't going to at first for this challenge, but I ended up doodling what I turned into a T. Mastiff last night, so I guess I'm in xD

Also - this'd make an amazing dA Group. Weekly (Or Bi-weekly/monthly) animal drawing challenges!
