Not at all....actually. I think they're really different in that Charlie actually has a conscience, somewhat, even before he changed for Ann-Marie. Steele didn't even have friends he cared about...but Charlie was pretty popular with everyone, remember every time he gambled, he shared his riches with his friends, he had Itchy always at his side through the good and the bad....but Jenna's quote stands true: "The only way Steele would notice anyone is if they were wearing a mirror". Lol, that dog only cared about himself...that's for sure.
I actually think of Steele as the dog form of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast!! The first time I saw Steele in Balto, I immediately got Gaston vibes. Now THOSE TWO are similar. XD A violent, muscle-bound honest-to-goodness egotistical big-bully jerk who wants the girl but doesn't care enough about her to let her be with the one she loves? That is both of them. To a T. I'm just glad Steele doesn't sing.

True...but I vividly remember Charlie insisting to Carface that "I was framed!!"....now whether that's true or not....it's up to you to believe him. ^_^ I was under the impression that Carface was the one who framed him to get rid of him. >:/

Exactly. I think that pretty much sums it up perfectly. Also, Charlie is what you would call an anti-hero: he's not your typical prince in shining armor coming to save the day, he looks out for himself at first, but his conscience will eventually lead him down the right path.

Steele usually covers things up, letting someone else (Balto, mainly) take the blame for it. Another obvious one is that Charlie actually DOES change - he may have been bad for his first life, but he tries so hard in his second chance . . .

Half agreed (to answer Conays question).

All in all, Charlie was, when you think about it really in depth) better than Steele. To follow up on the quote, if Steele went to court (like Charlie obviously did) he would indeed be put on death row as well for attempted murder--sorry to go bleek but isnt that what youd call it when he shoves Balto off the cliff, I mean Balto easily couldve died. And Steetle was eventually caught for his mischief too red-handed at the end of the movie when the dogs leave him in the boiler room.

They do indeed relate in trying to get the girl. If I were a dog, I'd go for Sasha instead of Jenna. That was really dumb of Charlie to kiss her out-of-blue like that.

Charlie is much nicer than Steele. Steele is just snobbish and rude.
