I think the princess and the frog didn't get a good enough introduction in other countries. In Iceland it was only shown in Icelandic which is horrible since there are alot of Icelandic fan who love the orginal english version. I sent a mail at the company who brought the princess and the frog to Iceland and demanded it to be shown in English. They showed it in english for only one week in a tiny place but there were always a full show.

I hate how they think it's only for children Dx

Well it did have a good marketing campaign here in France (and still does) though it doesn't air in original english version (but no Disney film does!)

And it's getting more success internationally than in the US already (135M$ compared to 100M$) and it hasn't aired everywhere yet.

Well that's silly, the only two things that make P&TF and Snow Queen a "princess movie" is that they have plot references to a princess character. Lame.

They're in fact trying to make it as anti-Princess movie by chucking in some "girl power" or some rubbish, or so Wiki has said for a while.

Guh... all of this and they're also trying to make it 3D painting pretty.

Happily N'ever after and Hoodwinked left out the names of their title charcters in the title and only did kinda o.k at the box office.. I wonder if Disney's looking for another Shrek :-|

Actually they WERE trying to do a Shrek rip-off, but they struggled to get the film done, and the years have passed so now the film should be a bit different from the "Rapunzel Unbraided" original project.

hmmm.. well, I think Hoodwinked and Happily N'ever After had at least one person who had worked on Shrek or Shrek 2 work on those movies.. even Princess and the Frog is almost Shrek-like..

what's the point in putting all that effort into planning the movie to then suddenly cancel it?
they shouldn't have decided to make the movie if they were just going to cancel it!
Disney are getting on my nerves, with all their CGI and 3D stuff! :-x

This sort of things happens very often. Many films get revamped completly before their release (recent example : Bolt) or get cancelled. That doesn't mean the project won't reappear one day or another.

I believe this will be a totally new licence (unlike the upcoming Winnie the Pooh film)
If it's just been greenlit, it won't be out before - at least - 2014. Huge gap. But at least, it means they're still somewhat interested in traditional animation. And that's the most important. See you in 3 or 4 years...(sigh)
