JerseyCaptain wrote: As to that series you hyperlinked above, I'm not seeing how it is so very Balto-like. Granted, I have not seen the show, but I checked out a clip or two on YouTube, and I'm not seeing the connection. The description on (*shiverrrr*) "Wikifur" says that this series "follows the adventures of Mametarou, a mixed-breed dog, and his girlfriend, Hanoko, a Kishu, in Japan with their owners and other dogs". Very loose connection at best. I was talking about similar in kid friendly style more than anything else. I mean... no one can REALLY can't compare the Ginga series or Wolf's Rain to Balto. It just doesn't make sense. Those two are just too adult for compare to a kids movie. But thank you for taking my post into consideration. I feel that the fandom only looks at those two animes and forget everything else... >.>

Somehow there's this major stereotype that anime = violent, bloody TV show. That's not how it works, kiddies. Look at a lot of Studio Ghibli's work. Granted, some of them are pretty violent (Princess Mononoke, etc.), but anime doesn't need to be violent and adult-oriented.

A large amount of anime, when it is not closely-edited for American, Canadian and European audiences, is actually rather heavy on the stuff you say that it isn't..."kiddie". It is apparently what the Japanese and, perhaps, Asian audiences want and are accustomed to. Leafeon-is-cute-too! wrote: Then, don't make it a kids show anymore! What in the world are you on about??
