Do you think so? I do actually. Kimba sounds like simba, only with a K. There is a lion that looks exactly like scar only his eye is closed.

Well, I think you mean to say that The Lion King is a copy of Kimba . . . .
Because Kimba was around many years before the Lion King was created (I think it was first made in the early 1960s . . .) and was quite popular too.
There are many similarities to both, but they each have their differences.
Some similarities:
- Young lion cub destined to be king of the jungle.
- the scarred lion (Scar in the TLK movies)
- young prince's best friend becomes his mate (Nala (TLK) and Kitty *I think she has other names as well* (KTWL))
I'll stop there . . . gotta go to class. ^__^

Kimba was made in 1965. HOW IN THE WORLD COULD IT BE A COPY OF THE LION KING?! The Lion King was made in 1994. CLEARLY A TIME DIFFERENCE. The Lion King copied Kimba SO BADLY. I like the Lion King a lot though

I know Kimba is not a copy of Lion King (due to time).
As for the other way around (TLK a copy of Kimba), I honestly don't think so. Just today I was watching the second disk of the "Special Edition Lion King" (the disk with all the extra stuff). I watched all the sections about story poduction and all that. They specifically discussed the reasoning behind the Lion King, and it seemed to me that it was mostly based off of universal themes (like fiding your place in the world, father/son relationships, responsibility, etc.) and Hamlet. Maybe Kimba was too and it just came earlier. Also, the original story changed as production went on, possibly making the Lion King more like Kimba. Due to the footage I recently watched, I firmly believe that Lion King was not a copy of Kimba (as similar as they may be).

Yup. That's when Disney became a little cheap.. (no offense to Disney fans. And I'm NOT saying that Disney copies everything. I think they copies Jungle Emperor and that's it).

Yeah. I agree with Sol-leks. Some things are bound to be simalar, but if you watch the 2nd disk for the special edition, you'll see that TLK isn't a copy of KTWL.

Disney was almost sued by the owners of Kimba but it could not happen because the company had gone bankrupt and the rights to Kimba were dispersed. Disney basically did copy of them, but they worked it out when the owner said he felt it was a honour that Disney would be 'inspired' by there work to create such a film.
