This thing could be a hallmark of our hero, having lived it to the final version. Throughout the production the protagonist had a strip on the nose (in the final version Balto has a wolf mask on the face). ALL characters go through design development, so I'm at a loss to as of what you mean. But I will guess and say Amblimation decided to change his appearance to make him look more wolfish (even though a Husky CAN look like this). Edit: You should try and post what you want to post in one post... Having multiple posts like this is rather annoying (I realize the site only allows for a few uploads, but I would suggest not using it and use an external host such as Photobucket or Imgur) for such short posts.

Speaking about the deleted scene. It seems to me, or in "Balto: Wings of Change", this location has been recreated. We can see this area in two scenes: /sites_co ... 109145.png/sites_co ... 109399.pngWell spotted! I am not surprised that they used it as last time I heard a lot of the original studio material from the first movie was in the garage of one of the production crew from Balto 2 and 3 used as reference and inspiration... I don't know if he still has it or not but I hope that it is safe Byanca Moureen wrote: Some production drawings... Some of those are "key frame" drawings - they are early production drawings that give the animator all the information that they need such as the movement and direction of the characters, the wind etc, where snow is falling or being kicked up in motion - they are quite interesting to look at to see how a some frames are broken down into key elements. Byanca Moureen wrote: Some backgrounds (from video Amblimation)... I actually own one of those backgrounds which I purchased from eBay: Close up of some of the detail... And the screenshot from the movie for a comparison... poor Steele

I just wanted to share this quickly before I go out tonight... you may have already seen this Production drawing that I was lucky enough to add to my collection: I decided to have a play around with colouring it and add it to one of the other backgrounds (sadly I don't have the right one) and I think it fits this one quite well...

The way you color these drawings is amazing! You should consider a tutorial on how to go about this. (=

Thanks Mighty and Eska Mighty - I don't do anything special, just photograph each drawing (too big for my scanner), then play with the levels to make the pencil more defined and boost the highlights so that the paper is blown out white. Then in Photoshop select the layer as Multiply and then colour in the normal way with any line art Here's a nice drawing from a memorable scene:

Has anyone seen one of these before? It is a blue print for the background. In most cases multiple versions for the same background were painted and a blue print ensures that the layout and detail is the same on each one. The one pictured below is an original and saved from being thrown out.

Perhaps I am inattentive, but I do not remember this location in the movie (of course, this old material is not included in the film, most likely). Although I once saw it in a special video of Amblimation with backgrounds. I posted a couple storyboards from my collection (soon I will post the deleted scene, which is pretty simple and tender).

Very nice story boards Byanca the detail is very nice. I must confess that I don't know which scene that background blueprint is from, I would have to do some research. Here's a couple more drawings:

A couple of days ago, I found some old watercolor layouts (one of these layouts even has a few colors at different times of the day).

Beautiful Byanca - especially the pencil drawing of Balto on his boat. Here's a really nice portrait drawing of Balto: I decided to give him the colour treatment and on a random background....

Here's a really nice portrait drawing of Balto: I decided to give him the colour treatment and on a random background.... Acanis, it's just awesome! By the way, I promised to post the deleted episode (or alternative scene) from my collection. The only thing, but I do not have storyboard with an ending of this scene. But the essence I can understand. Most likely it's just a longer version of the meeting Balto with Jenna after the races. Balto runs on the Rosie's voice and accidentally contacts with Jenna. In this version, Balto drops its muzzle into the snow directly under the feet of Jenna (she smiles). Further he only timidly crawls from her and says "Jenna... I ..." (he laughs). Jenna friendly came up to him and checks his paw. We see quite a pleasant and delicate negotiations. Heroes uncertainly start kissing. After that, they break up with a nice mood. Although, probably Balto is hiding from Rosie's father. Generally, the scene itself seems quite simple little (a typical meeting of two solitudes from different walks of life), but it is shown quite gently, like a young love with a drop of care. By the way, here Balto looks like more youthful and cute "a disheveled sparrow" with a bewitching smile, kind eyes and a sympathetic ears. However, in my opinion, this scene has the advantage over the final version: here the protagonist and heroine communicate! Seriously, here they really understand each other. There is not this "love at first sight." Okay, there is a "casual fun meeting", but at least the characters have enough time to get to know each other better and to converge. Well, here's the scene itself.
