JerseyCaptain wrote: I still say that every Pomeranian I have seen to date, ever, has shown the rather unattractive tendencies I mentioned earlier. Now, I don't mean to unfairly pick on the breed. Like I said, it's a very attractive breed. They have the potential for being wonderful animals and pets. And I realize that not all Pomeranians must necessarily be like I described. But statistically-speaking, from my point of view and experience, it doesn't look good. You also have to remember that the animals you've seen at Crufts, just like those at any high-toned dog show (such as Westminster here in the U.S.) belong to hobby breeders/conformationists, and as such are minutely managed - professionally groomed on a regular basis (especially before shows or competitions. Groomers even make a special distinction between pet dogs and show dogs when they offer grooming services...I've seen it time and again) and thoroughly (and often strictly) trained. They have to be in order to stand any chance in these shows and competitions. So they are not representative of the average dog (in the case of any breed or mix). Not that they are better. Sometimes the reverse is true (in terms of quality...even though a breeder/conformationist would scoff at the very notion that their dogs don't represent the pinnacle of their breed ). I've spent much time around dogs of various breeds...and mixes. Worked with trainers (and even trained to BE a trainer). And from what I have seen, while I don't mean to condemn the breed in any way, Pomeranians are touchy, temperamental and fussy dogs whose owners tend to spoil them. Ha ha! I like you because you speak your mind, thankyou. I am glad that you tell me your true opinion. I agree, every time i see a nuts Pomeranian i feel so shown up and embarrest because i am the only one in my family who sticks up for them and try's to prove that it is how they are brought up. Like kids, once they do something and don't get corrected, they know that they can do it again and again without getting told off. Poms can easily go nuts, barking all the time and being aggressive around other people, they like their owners to theirselves. I am going to bring up my Pom (if i still deicide to get one when i am older) around other people and other dogs. ( I want to live with my sister at first when i am older and she wants a American Cocker Spaniel) xD. Oh, i know. They will probably get trained and trained until they are perfect to their satisfaction, which i think is wrong. I just ment that i thought it was such an unusual breed and it reminded me of a little lion. I just fell in love with them. But i hate it myself when i see nutty dogs that try to bite everyone and go nuts. Oh, don't worry, i know your not just picking on that breed, you are entitled to have your say, that was the reason i made this topic. Yep, i hate snobs who are selfish and are destroying animals just for their appearance. I am glad that they have stopped that Crufts show. It still doesn't stop people from breeding them though. Really? Wow, your lucky. Good luck with that. I'd love to train dogs and work with them. I have never stroked a Pomeranian before, i'd love to work with one. I'd love to stroke that calm Pomeranian i seen at Ingoldmels 3 week ago, i loved it. It was shaved but apart from the tail. Unleast i know that the owners didn't have it for show. I bet the coat was too must of a mess about. I won't spoil mine if i have one. Again, thanks for the comment!

Kiche wrote: They're cute, no doubt... but I have to agree w/ a lot of JC's points. And it seems most cute, small dogs suffer the same 'disease' Poms, yorkies, chihuahuas, shih tzus... I've seen them all and been overwhelmingly exasperated by them all x.X I've known -one- pom though who was really quiet and sweet... he came in as a stray where I worked and we adopted him out to a family w/ three other dogs.. the four of the dogs ended up having to board w/ us for at least a couple of months because the family's house caught fire. So we took care of them, one Samoyed (?) mix, and three poms. The Samoyed was quiet and a bit shy; 2 of the poms, who were brothers, were absolutely nuts, off the wall hyper, didn't know commands, would go out to pee and end up just wrestling and gnawing on each other, would yap and snarl walking by any dog outside the family, but were actually quite good w/ people; then there was fat, tiny old Duncan <3 Couldn't care less about other dogs, loved human attention, hardly yapped at all.. my only criticism was his weight & slightly nasty backside I don't remember where my anecdote was going anymore.. I suppose the moral is "some pomeranians are nice" or something... ***** interruptions >,< I'll look after my Pom (If i still deicide to get one when i am older) the way it deserves to be looked after, then it wouldn't go nuts, it depends on how it is brought up. Aww, Duncan sounds lovely. xD

Puppies at a store means they are likely from a puppy mill, and purchased for the store illicitly. No one should ever purchase puppies from a store...it promotes the continuing existence of puppy mills and bad breeding practices. Sorry, but do you mean they just keep on breeding them and once people buy them all they breed the Pom again? That is cruel, i hate people who just breed dogs for money. They do deserve a good home though since people might think the same thing and not buy them. Thanks for all of the comments JC.

Well, actualy the pets store dosn't take puppies from puppy mills, only puppys that BOTH the parents are PETS to someone, it's extremly rare for them to have dogs, but these were dogs from a person who's dogs bred. The only things they carry regularly are:
Snakes Rabbits guinie pigs Fish Mice Hamsters Gerbles Rats Lizards
They also have crickets but those are for buying and feeding you lizard or snake. And they don't buy anymore animals until the first is gone. They somtimes carry ducks, and everything else they have is for horses, cages, and pet care/toys.
Oh and there are two tan ones (one has a white muzzel) and one full black one.

Actually, the major pet store in my town doesn't even carry puppies. As Zappy said, they carry mostly small animals, the occasional cat or ferret, and pet and wild bird products.
So, I would say that it's entirely reasonable for whichever pet store Zappy is referring to to only have bought from a breeder. *Shrugs*

But Jersey, You haven't ever been to this petstore (Well Probably) and these ARE from someone else who didn't want them. And aslo, Even if I didn't have anything to back it up with, niether do you, and I do know this store more then you. I go there on friday about 2 outta 4 times. I pretty sure this was 1) An accidental Litter 2) The family needed money 3) A family wanted a puppy, paid for te litter, and gave them to this store But this Topic is supposed to be about the Breed Pomeranians. So Lets try to get back on topic
