I wasn't even alive when it first came out but around when I was three years old and could actually process what was happening on the television screen, my brother played the movie and I remember re-watching at four and singing "I just can't wait to be king!" until my dad had to shut me up :lol: I have collected a lot of merchandise over the years such as;

  • Mufasa hardee w/ move able legs and a button that made the mouth move
  • Simba hardee w/ move able legs and a button that made the mouth move
  • Nala hardee w/ move able legs
  • Scar hardee (this disappeared over the years)
  • Simba hardee
  • 1, 2, and 1 1/2 on VHS
  • Sitting adult Simba
  • "The Lion King" Read along book
  • Shenzi hardee w/ move able legs (this disappeared over the years)
  • Lion King Broadway tickets (this disappeared over the years)
  • Simba laying down plushie
  • Simba standing plushie
  • Mufasa sitting plushie (this disappeared over the years)
  • Zira McDonald's Happy Meal toy
  • Nuka(I think) McDonald's Happy Meal toy (this disappeared over the years)

I wanna get my hands on the books!

EDIT: Took some photos of the things I could find laying around. I'll dig for more later

Don't remember the first time I saw it, however, I don't think I was particularly struck by it then. I probably thought that it was just a kids movie and wasn't particularly interested. I remember seeing it at a friend's house later and realising how good of a movie it actually was. Now I've seen it... I don't know how many times

I don't remember the first time that I watched The Lion King: I watched it when it came out, I was 5 years old or something like that. XD But I do remember that I really liked it, and kept watching the VHS over and over... Until I lost it somehow. I forgot about TLK for many many years until I discovered it again thanks to Balto Source, which had a link to Lion King Source, and I decided to watch it again.

Yeah, I wasn't even born when it came out! But my parents had a healthy supply of Disney films, containing our beloved Lion king! :) I basicly grew up on Disney. We saw the West End show when I was about 5.

Ditto. Me too!

And me too. Who didn't, after all?

Oh my, the first time I saw The Lion King! It was on VHS... probably about 1996 or so. I loved it, every second of it.

I was actually born the year (and month, lol) that it was released, so needless to say I don't remember the very first time I watched it.

I do remember, though, coming home from kindergarten daily and begging to watch TLK.
I remember my mom would make me count to one-hundred before she would turn it on.
Education before entertainment, lol. [:

Well, I think I first saw it when I was around 3 years. I enjoyed watching it, because it was a fun and great thing to watch, it also had some morals. Then I kept watching it over and over again. Then got bored of it then after, 11 - 12 months I watched it again and enjoyed it :). Merchandise? Uh, a lion king book is all I have.

When I first saw TLK, I was five years old. I remember Pumbaa being my favourite character because he was so darn funny. I really enjoyed it because of the great animation, the unforgetable songs and the loveable and hateable characters (by hateable characters, I mean Scar). I used to enjoy the scene where the lions defeat the hyenas, Simba goes to the top of Pride rock and roars to claim the pridelands as his own, all the plants grow back and the animals return. I also enjoyed the stampeed scene where Mufasa rescues his sons life but loses his own. I always used to hold back the tears at that scene, because seeing the look on poor Simba's face, it just made me want to cry. I felt sorry for the poor little guy.

One song I always used to sing along to was 'Hakuna Matata', that song is the most unforgetable out of all of the songs in TLK. I remember my Aunty Debbie used to sing it with me. She is 40 years old and she loves TLK and Scooby-Doo. I guess you can never be to old to enjoy Disney/Warner Bros Cartoons/Movies.

I also enjoy the cartoon 'On Holiday With Timon and Pumbaa' because it had something to do with my fave TLK characters I was interested in it straight away and begged my mother to buy it.

A great scene indeed, maybe the best one together with Mufasa's death. And an awesome soundtrack, too.

OH man im gonna cry.
I saw it when i was 5, i think it was when i just moved to america with my family from Ukraine (dont know why lol)
When i saw it i loved pumba and timon so much i was always rewinding it to the part when they sang hakunah mattatah.
When i saw the grubs part i was so touched by the way they had drawn it and the way they looked that i really started trying to eat bugs lol, then i ate a bunch of ants and others lol but i gave up eating them after i ate a stinkbug uhhh.. I saw lion king 2 like a year later but i didn't like it as much =/

Now seeing it after about 9-10 years i cried so hard! I love Lion King so much now that it might even beat Balto as the top film for me. The weird part is that now i LOVE lion king 2 much better than lion king 1, yet i still like both very much - so much in fact that i know some of the song's whole lyrics lol and i have them on my ipod too :D like the "Can you feel the love tonight" which i think i might play it on my friend's wedding :P
I don't think your age matters for this film.. you can be 92 and about to die and still watch it - and enjoy it like a 3 year old.

Well yeah, and the best part is remembering how i used to love the movie so hard when i was a little kid :)
