I actually decided to PM everyone who is active in that forum and sort of show them how they could improve by taking one of their recent post and simply fixing the grammar, spelling, and style. I sent out probably around ten messages, and I've only heard back from two. One thanked me for the help, but she has fairly good grammar and spelling and just needs to work on getting passed one-line posts, but I understand this is very difficult for young members. I was one once too. I remember getting in two or three lines and feeling very proud of myself! Anyways, the other reply I got was from one of the members who really needs to improve, and she (I'm assuming gender here...) thanked me, asked me to look at her newest post, but there was really very little improvement. Now, I wasn't expecting a complete transformation in one-post, but there was basically no improvement. When I pointed out everything that needed improving (including capitalizing first names and I; using quotes instead of colons in dialogue; using sentences instead of *'s to show action; along with cleaning up typos and misspellings) I never heard from her again and she has continued to post with no punctuation, though I did notice she stopped using *'s to show action, which I guess is a step in the right direction.
As with everyone else, I have noticed that pretty much all of them have switched from using colons and *'s to sentences and "quotes" (I say that with slight sarcasm since most of the punctuation is off, but it's better than nothing), but there is still a big probably with capitalization. Not to mention characters and plots and one-line posts, but again, that stuff comes with time being on the site and aging in general. I do see some great potential in three of the members, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out which ones though one may surprise you, but I don't know what to do with these other members.
