This one has to go to dogs. I love them.

There is indeed a topic similar to this. It's 'What's You're Favorite Animal' instead of pet. I'm not entirely sure if this one will fly or not, I will ask the others and will get back here soon.
Edit It's been decided. This topic is different enough to stay.
Now, what am I to post an not participate?
I'm more fond of the classic dog and/or cat. They're different, but they're wonderful if you can get a pair that get along.
Fish are interesting for like the first week. They're dull the rest of the time. I'm indifferent about birds. And more exotic pets like snakes an lizards are cool but I'll visit a friend's. And from the little time I've interacted with one, rats are neat too.

Mine would be a dog. i've always wanted one, but i still live with my parents and they don't allow me to have one. Anyway i have a little female japaneese squirriel (Americans call it chipmunk), called Julie, who is supposed to be less impegnative than a dog. She's nice, but it's not the kind of pet you can handle so often (in fact i've never done it!) because she's quite wild (mine in particoular). I used to have a male too, but he died last year for an infection. He was old anyway. A cat would be nice as well but i love the idea of a furry stitchy ball

Mine is the dog.
I really can't see my life without my dogs, I grew up with them, I've had my first dog when I was like 2 years old. I think that they're the best pets that you can have x3 cats are too wild in my opinion, they stay at your home just because you give them food and a place to sleep when outside rains. That's all.

I love cats! Although I can't have them (I'm allergic. ), I LOVE them! I love dogs, too. And hamsters. XD

I'd have to say cat: I'd say dog, but not having one, I can't say I love them as PETS.
I've always wanted a dog, but soon, my wish may come true! It would 99.99% most likely be a rescue mutt(maybe a Pit Bull).
Anyways, cats are wild, but I have one that's absolutely lovable, I can't picture life without him. He'll come up to you and just jump on your lap and snuggle. He's better than a teddy bear, and MUCH warmer! 8] And let's face it: cats are MUCH better in a home and easier to take care off. No walking, no training, no excessive noise(except for Siamese). And if you get a real nice one like my fat cat over there, they're just as loving as a dog.

To make this sound Deadliest Warrior-y, I shall do it like this:
While cats may be snuggle bugs when they wanna be, they can also be bad tempered and are more likely to scratch you if you annoy them. Dogs are normally calm, and unlike cats you can wrestle with them if you want and have little to no risk of being hurt. Edge, Dog.
Cats lie around all day and they do come when you want them to, that's it. They also have to be trained to go in the litterbox just like a dog for outside. Dogs can be taught a variety of tricks to keep you and itself amused (I say 'it' because it depends if it's male or female.) and actually listen to commands. Edge, Dog.
Dogs and cats are both territorial, so neither gets an edge.
Dogs can guard a family against thief because it can bite, scratch, and chase. Cats, at the first moment they get startled, run as if their tail is on fire. Dogs are also used to help people with some disabilities like blindness or deafness. Edge, Dog.
... In case you can't tell, I pick dogs (German Shepherds to be exact. I read that they are fast learners, so they are easy to train. So again: Edge, Dog).
