Hey everyone!  So we've been receiving feedback on the question of the layout of Minions Source, specifically pertaining to the color scheme.  The reactions have been varied.  And I will give you an honest appraisal of them.  And it comes down mostly to "Art 101"...understanding the concepts of complementary colors and relative brightness or shadiness.

MOST people have said they like the layout and colors of Minions Source.  And we chose those colors because those are the colors of the minions...not only the yellow minions seen throughout the movie franchise, but also the transformed evil purple minions seen in Despicable Me 2.  The production designer and art department of that movie didn't choose purple for the evil minions by accident.  Purple (or what some refer to as "violet") is a natural complementary color for yellow.  Yellow is a primary color, and purple is a secondary color.  That's how the color wheel works...and it works just as much in nature as in art.  Primary and secondary colors complement each other (think holly bushes and their berries).  And the various shades of those two colors also complement each other.  We all learn this in basic art classes (there's a reason, after all, that the accepted and dominant colors of Christmas are red and green...following that same color scheme as noted earlier with the holly bush example). 

A couple of people, however, think that the colors we chose for Minions Source "clash".  These couple of people will not change our minds on the colors selected.  They simply don't understand how the color wheel works.  However, a few others thought that the brightness of the yellow, against the light purple (more of a lavender) are a bit too much for the eyes.  That we do respect, if we don't necessarily agree (and not everyone thought it is too bright).  However, to accommodate as many members as we can, and to respect everyone's eyesight, we will be working to tone down the yellow for you guys, and we hope that will resolve any concerns about how bright things are.

Minions Source is not the only brightly-colored site in the Animation Source family.  With respect to the others, not every source site is going to consist of muted blues, grays, greens, browns, tans and reds.  That would be rather repetitive and uncreative.  Those other sources stand on their own merits, and have good layouts.  But while we don't believe that every source should have a muted, dark or earthy color scheme, we don't want you to think we intended for Minions Source to be neon bright either!  lol

We'll try to tone it down in the next day or so.  I don't know how that will yet work out, because I'm not a graphics site builder.  However, I will confer with Mightybalto1925 and -Legolas10-, and we'll do what we can.  Thanks for your patience, your feedback and your support!
