Ginga Densetsu Weed is the sequel to Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and is also written by Yoshihiro Takahashi. The anime cut more out from the manga compared to the Ginga Nagarebishi Gin anime. Quality of animation ha been critiqued for constantly changing in style from episode to episode. The story anime ends with the final battle with Hougen while the anime continues way past the fight with Hougen and has many other arcs.

In the anime Weed is born in the wild. He meets GB the English Setter who gives him a bird to feed to his ill mother and later on meets GB's friend Sasuke and then Smith (one of Gin's comrades). Weed somehow is able to use the Zetsu Tenrou Battouga while fighting to save Sasuke even though he wasn't taught it. This is the special attack that Gin was taught by his father. Sakura (Weed's mother) passes away and she tells Smith that he needs to be taken to meet his father Gin.

GB, Smith and Weed set off to Ou and meet friends on the way. They meet up with the beast called Kaibutsu who is terrorizing the paradise of Ou. Weed and the Ou dogs meet Jerome and the assassins trained to take down Kaibutsu. 

Another threat to paradise appears and that is the Great Dane named Hougen. He captures Gin, John and Akame. His plan is to control all of Japan. Weed and the others must fight in order to save them and restore Ou's paradise.
