3rd ASCAs - And the Winners Are...!

Written by SkulShurtugalTCG :

The time has come to announce the winners of the 3rd Annual Animation Source Choice Awards!

Thank you to the 50+ people who voted! It was a vast improvement over last year, and this will help to ensure that the ASCAs are here to stay! You all can probably guess the majority of winners very easily, but in all honesty, there were some categories where the outcome was decided by a margin of five votes or less!

Again, it was easy to predict, but "Frozen" came out on top with the most wins of any category, and the only film with multiple wins. It won 7 ASCA awards, including Best Picture and Fan Favorite - which, in the past, have gone to two different films. It also won for Best Original Screenplay, Best Voice Actress (Idina Menzel), Best Director, Best Score, and Best Original Song ("Let It Go", which is also up for the Oscar in March). The only losses it had were another Best Voice Actress award for Kristen Bell, and Film Most Likely to Receive a Sequel.

The other "big" winners of this year were Pokemon: Genesect and the Legend Awakened for Best Sequel Screenplay, and Despicable Me 2 for Best Voice Actor (Steve Carell). The Croods won the award for Film Most Likely to Receive a Sequel.

Non-film winners mostly went to the Pokemon franchise, no doubt thanks to its huge X and Y franchise that began releasing last year. Pokemon XY won the award for Best Animated TV Series, and Pokemon X and Y won for Best Animated Video Game. Action film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire won the award for Best Animation in a Live-Action Film, and that's a wrap!

Again, thanks to everyone for voting! We'll be back next year with the 4th ASCAs - and with a wonderful upcoming year with films like How to Train Your Dragon 2, The Lego Movie, and Big Hero 6, it'll undoubtedly be another great round of awards!
