A lot of people seem to like this Film the most out of all the sequels. I generally agree, even if it's not as good as the first film. It is the only sequel in the series that comes close though. Instead of what the second film did with the story, this one throws in a few more interesting Ideas. Instead of a basic Point A to B Plot with little to no twists and turns to make it more investing, this film has a lot more character and a lot more charme to me. I feel this is the case because the writing here is just way funnier, way more clever and just has more depth. It still doesn't have the more heartfelt moments of the first film, like the scene in the cave where we find out about Manny's past, but it doesn't need that to be a good film. It just needs an investing story with funny jokes and likeable characters. And this movie delivers on both. There is but one question left that I'm sure everyone is asking: WHY ARE THERE DINOSAURS IN THE ICE AGE? Well, to answer that question, it's an animated film. If you really judged the movie based on that, you'd have to judge the whole franchise. I mean, giant ground sloths and mammoths never existed in the same time period and this movie's depiction of Cronopio's is not even close to what they look like. But it's not supposed to be accurate, it's an animated film. Movies tend to make stuff up for entertainment purposes. And the way they brought in the Dino's is actually pretty clever. Aside from that though, I also enjoy what they did with the characters. They gave them different arcs and subplots that actually work out very well. I very much enjoy the inclusion of Karen Disher as Scratte, she really is a great comic foil for Scrat. Buck is also a great new addition and he brings in a lot of the likeability. The only characters I dislike here are Crash and Eddie. They were annoying in the second film and not much has changed here. Visually, this is also the most unique out of the franchise with all the different Dinosaurs and just the look of all the areas the film explores. Overall, this is a pretty solid flick. It shares some of the flaws of the previous installments, but it does stand out in some ways and is overall a good sequel. Go and check it out.
