The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story was a 1998 direct-to-video film from Disney. It was originally scheduled for release in 2002, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of The Second Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, but the rapid decline of DTV films forced Disney to make a quick, rather cheap film. It has only been released on DVD through rewards of Disney's Movie Club.
The film follows Mowgli and his adventures through the jungle. Unlike most other live-action adaptations, the animals in this film can talk. Mowgli interacts with all kinds of animals, usually meeting them by accident and (in Shere Khan's case at least), beating them in a fight through unorthodox means.
