Hello, thank you for taking time to reads this little article of mine I hope you find it usefull.

So we can all see the drastic differences between the Pridlanders and the Outsiders.

I think most of you with any arguement would say that the Pridlanders are the Average Southwestern African Lions, maybe the one's you'll find in the zoo, in the wild, and in a protected park, as they are the most commonly used lions for cartoons. But this article isn't about them, it's about there slightly less atractive cuzins in the outlands.

To break down which breed the Outsider might have been i first had to seperate what made them different from the Pridelanders.

There were the obious things:

• 
  They are Fairly skinnyer than the pridelands lions


• 
  they have a slightly darker arangement of colors


• 
   The dark Circles under their eyes


• 
  There darker colored noses

Then I had to get to the slightly less obvious Points:

• 
  They have longer slightly wider ears


• 
  The seem to  have more skin then fur (if you pay attention to the lines used to show joints such as the armpit and inner thy there are more lines and the curve around slightly to show more 'loose' skin)


• 
  They have longer less rounded faces

So now we have our physical characteristic of the Ousiders. Then I did research, First i ahd to rule ou tthe southwestern african lions, this did not take long as Zira and her other lioness conter parts did not resible the females of that breed at all.

The one thing she resibles to the averange African Lion is the black nose, although the average afican lions nose is Typicaly a dark pink-ish color.

So that ruled out your average african lion, then I took the Oulands into mind, as the Ousiders didnot have as nice of home as the Pridelanders had. Taking into Mind that there was less food and Greenary for them, and it looked to be try, maybe thorny and hotter, so this lead me to belive this might be a fair enough reason to give them less fur and make them thinner. This obervation rulled out most living breeds of of Lions, however there was one.

The Tsavo Lion foudn in Kenya, in the Tsavo national park, which is a dry flat area in africa, and in the movie it seemed Kovu had to travel a Long way to get near the pride lands so the Outlands may have been a long distance away which would suport the Outsiders being an Breed font is East africa and the Pridelanders being Southwest, or south african born.

Now let me Use Zira, Vitani, and the Lionesses of the Outlands now has a reference.

next  to the Picture of Zira, Vitani, and the other Ousider female  are stuffed  Tsavo females,  you can see the differance between them and the Average African Lions, and the great simularities between Zira, Vitani, and the other female.

  The Female Tsavo's share the same long head shape


• 
  The same longer slightly wider ears


• 
  Same body shape and they have more skin than fur


• 
  even the way they carry their tails (look at zira's tail and the the tsavo female)


• 
  Same Nose theme, the tsavo's nose curves down slightly at the ends and its black


• 
  The Tsavo lions have the same paw structure that the Out siders do.

Now there are Two certain Lions that are hindering the Evidence. Kovu and Nuka.

alright so most by now keep yelling termites were the reason for nuka's mane, and such but in the reality of it all i think he might have been based off of the Cape Lion and the Tsavo lion breeds.  Same Idea goes for Kovu as well.The cape lion although extinct now (i think) had a black mane however it's mane was far fluffyer than nuka's and Kovu so i think they just used the the cape lion for his color. although the Cape Lions mane did go under the bellie such as Scars did, and could be as thin as scars, so i would think that Scar had soem Cape lion in him which would have been past down to Nuka and Kovu. Tsavo lion males are virtually maneless and have the same almost hair theme as the females. Now i want you to look at a living tsavo male.

this is a perfectly healthy Lion guys they just like this ok, but look at what little mane it does have, yes this is a male lion and this is as big as it's mane will probably ever get. He has that lightly dark coloring as well. and it is said that Tsavo lions live in a thorny harsh area of Africa, which identifies with the Outlands harsh lanscape. if you look the lion also has nuka's black nose.

I am not saying that nuka if for sure a Tsavo lion i'm just saying he might have been based off of one to show how harsh the outlands were and how or why the outsiders looked the way they did, i believe most of them, minus Kovu who they made look good because of the fact he was the "hero" or animal version of the disney "prince", where based off of this breed  OR  on the flip side after reviewing my information I found that Nuka and Kovu might have been Mixed betweent he Tsavo, Average, and Cape Lions.  OR

as not to leave you guys wonderin ghow i got this theory i will explain.

Lionesses often mate with various parentners when they are in season and Cubs can have different fathers. I have no doubt that Kovu and Nuka are Scars Cubs, now facial features give this away ( ps. please remain from leaving kovu is not scar's son comments this is not what this is about)  I belive Scar due to his long mane that went to the underside of his bellie and dark colors was indeed an Cape lion mix, yes i know Mufasa didn't look like one however you must remeber that cubs can have different fathers. So i think the mix between scars DNA and Zira's DNA gave Nuka and Kovu there less than tsova lion looks,  Disney was able to Make Nuka look more like a tsova lion because he wasn't as important of an character as Kovu who was one of the hero's in the movie , as i said before the animal verion of the disney "prince" htye had to make him look good. but none the less you can see the Tsova lion in them.

Unless Disney actually tell use though there is no real proof that this is fact.
