Distinguishing Features: Thin outlander is body but with a rounded face and the spots on his hind legs.

Personality: Caring, considerate, but does have a temper and can lose control at times.

Relation to the Lion King: His son (Ajali) is mate to Kopa and Vitani’s daughter.

History:

(As his story really only begins when he’s an adult I will begin from there.)

Dakarai was a rogue, as was his father, so he was brought up knowing how to survive without a pride. He liked the savannah the most as he had a repeated nightmare of rocks closing in on him and he didn’t particularly like the sand.

One day, whilst he was wandering the savannah, he heard a cry in the distance. It sounded like a lioness, but Dakarai couldn’t be sure. He crept up onto the scene where 3 male lions were attacking a young lioness, leaping at her, biting and scratching her. With a roar, Dakarai entered the fray and managed to scare the attackers off. He went over to the lioness and introduced himself. She looked into his eyes and whispered thanks before slumping to the ground exhausted.

Dakarai stayed by her side all night. He decided she was the best chance at having a family there was and that he would never leave her. When she awoke she thanked him again and tolf him never to leave her. They gazed at each other and fell in love.

Dakarai and Dikeledi had a cub together whom they called Ajali. Ajali was their pride and joy, although Dakarai’s feelings towards Dikeledi were stronger than his for the cub.

A year later, Dakarai knew he could trust Ajali to go off and return to the den before nightfall. This left him precious time with Dikeledi. One day, whilst they were out hunting together, an antelope mother defended her calf by kicked and spearing Dikeledi with her horns. Dakarai always hopeful supported her as they began the journey home. However, Dikeledi didn’t manage it.

She collapsed halfway and stopped moving. Torn and tearful, Dakarai pulled her onto his back and carried her home. Once he had arrived, he grieved.

He only lifted his head to see Ajali arrive back, his cheerful smile being replaced by a look of confusion then shock. Dakarai felt useless and wanted to blame someone. Then only person he could think of was his son.

After chasing off Ajali, Dakarai went about burying Dikeledi. Although he hated them, he found a cave and left the body deep inside. As he was about to leave a giant cracking sound made him freeze. A split second later, the ceiling caved in and Dakarai was plunged into his nightmare, only this time it was for real. His last thought before he died was ‘karma.’
