Personality: Fun-loving, hardly-ever serious, he loves it when he can roam freely and be himself around people. He is likeable, and has become really popular around the other lions in the pride because of his friendly and easy-going personality. Known as a risk-taker, James often finds himself dicing with death after often going into dangerous areas, often risking it with the Outlanders and then also making a run for it into Hyena territory. James is completely able to stand up for himself alone, and doesn’t usually need the help of others to protect him. Despite this tough-guy side, he’s a softie on the inside. Sometimes he may turn on people that are usually his friends, but he manages to resolve problems, some last though. He’s always looking for adventure and fun, and loves to hunt. He is rarely ever cautious of his surroundings, and often will protect others if they are ever scared. Being a team-player, James doesn’t mind whether he wins or loses, but in a competition, if any one of his competitors doubt him, he most often proves them wrong. He’s a humorous lion, and makes those around him laugh if they need cheering up or are ever depressed. A friend who’s always there when you need it, and has a passion for sport, and making people laugh, usually performing crazy dances when you least expect it.

Likes: Making others laugh, charging about, chasing prey, playing with the cubs in the Pride, Celeste, Amy, Simba’s Pride, his friends, running after birds and sending them flying in fright, enjoying times and having memories to reflect on, showing people the beauties of the wild, and water reflections.

Dislikes: Being yelled at or taken for granted, people accusing him of things he didn’t do, his friends being disrespected, he doesn’t like Emily’s attitude towards the other lions and lionesses in the pride, and tries his best to stick up for them (which often gets him into trouble), he has a passionate hate for Scar and Zira. Usually if anything is bothering him he’ll talk to someone, or go for a walk alone.

Friends: Marsh, Celeste, Jay, Luca, Joe, Amy, Sam and George, Shadow, Simba, Nala, Kovu, Kiara, Mito, Mariah.

Crush: He sort of likes Celeste, his childhood friend.

Mate: None, but he was unfairly forced to be Emily’s boyfriend.

Pride: Simba’s (Pridelanders)

History:

James was born in a small family, with an older brother, his mother, father and a small group of three other lions. This small pride had tough times to deal with, but also had easier circumstances, and always found ways to hunt and bring back meals. Rarely any of the pride went without food, since they were all talented hunters.

Nobody ever thought of betrayal as an option in the tight and close group of lions, but trust is something that must be given on certainty, mistakes can always be made. This very scenario happened, not long after James learnt to walk. Mishka, a large female in the pride, became jealous of the alpha female of the Pride, and therefore when she and the dominant male (James’s mother and father) left the pride on hunting duties, she was left alone to care for James. Without warning, and to James’s surprise as this was totally unlike her, she seized the opportunity and placed the cub on a small piece of wood, and pushed it with her muzzle into a nearby river. The flast-flowing water took James downstream, leading him to the Pridelands. Mishka pretended she had been robbed of James, and James’s parents never stopped looking for him for weeks on end. Eventually Mishka murdered his mother, because she was weak from heartbreak. James’s father resigned from his position and left the pride, taking Connor, James’s older brother, with him. Mishka took over the Pride and became Queen, and soon found a mate.

Meanwhile, James’s raft finally came to a resting position outside Pride Rock, a small stream where many of the Pridelanders came to drink from. He was lucky, because no sooner had he washed up, Simba came to take a drink after a tiring day of looking after his Pride. He noticed the small cub with no parents, and so kindly took him in. James showed will and strength after what had happened to him, and Simba saw something in the little cub that would bring even more joy to the Pride.

James became a fun-loving cub with a sense for adventure and discovery, often heading out into territories where he shouldn’t be. This often got him into trouble with Simba, but he’d often seem to make Simba laugh with various faces of innocence. Nala loved him for those.

Still becoming ever more adventures, James would often spend time down by the river, as he loved the way water reflected objects. One day he noticed a female cub trying to sneak past him, but his  hearing caught her out.

“Nice try,” James said a loud, “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.”

“That was the most rubbish of my stealthy moves in my life so far,” answered Celeste, turning round to see the other cub standing a few metres away from her, “Who are you?”

“The name’s James,” the male cub replied, “What’s yours?”

“Celeste,” she answered.

“Aren’t you going to have a drink?” questioned James, “I’m not going to stop you.”

“Jeez, thanks there,” she smiled, “I’ve just been chased, all by myself, by the Outlanders pride.”

“Why, where’s your pride?” wondered James aloud.

“That’s the thing, I don’t belong to a pride, it’s just me, my sister and our parents. Nobody else.”

That’s when they realised somebody was coming closer as the bushes started to rustle.

“You better get out of here,” whispered James, “I’m part of the Pridelander’s pride; they’re coming to see where I am. If they find you, you’ll be on for another chase.”

“I’m pretty much up for it,” she whispered in reply, “But, you’re right.”

The female cub dashed away from him, with the speed he’d never seen on a lion. He looked around to see Simba looking for him.

“Aah, here you are,” smiled Simba, “C’mon, come home now.”

James padded after the larger male lion, back into the Pridelanders territory. James rarely forgets a face, and knew he’d surely remember hers if they were ever to meet again.

At the age of a young teen, James had plenty of friends and was becoming ever more popular within the pride. He loved to hunt, and to cheer his friends up, sometimes performing crazy dances simply to make them laugh. James and a female lioness Amy were good friends, and often a partnership when hunting because they both excelled at it. Emily, the niece of Simba (but preferred to be known as a Princess of the pride) took a liking to James. Unfortunately for him, he was forced to be her boyfriend through a royal selection, he had no choice. His friends often tease him about it, but James simply referred to her as the one he was “Stuck with”, simply because he had no say in anything. Truthfully, the two rarely ever talked.

He became a favourite lion amongst the cubs of the pride, and loved to play with them and teach them how to hunt, even playing one of their innocent little joke games on Zion and Sazari, who had recently given birth to a fourth cub (the first was Emily, then Mito, then Mariah).

One day he noticed after a hunt Amy returning with a fawn coloured lioness beside her, he began to slowly recognise the face, but couldn’t put a name on her. Amy slowly made her way back into the Pride and towards Pride Rock, where Simba was standing. She looked like she was asking of acceptance for this female lion, and what looked like her sister behind her.

She looked around and they caught eyes, she looked up, looking into his. That’s when he realised.

“James?” she said.

“Celeste?”

“It is you!” she softly ran, her fur blowing in the wind.

The two playfully greeted each other running about in a small circle slightly like the cubs they were when they met. Emily became suspicious of Celeste, and soon grew to hate her along with Amy. She would do anything to keep James’s attention on her. James, Celeste and Amy were three hunters who were always out upfront, because they were so good at it.

James, Celeste and Amy have become really good friends, and James has now two extra people to talk to, which he often does. He’ll often find himself talking to Celeste even when he least expects it. He decided he will defend them if Emily will ever have a go at them, or sometimes when he knows they can handle it themselves, he leaves them to teach her a lesson. He hopes he can find a way to leave Emily, because she isn’t a person that anyone would like to be around.

Relation to Lion King: Belongs to Simba’s Pride, and is a favourite of the King and Queen.
