Name: Kamau (meaning 'silent warrior')

Personality: Kamau definitely does justice to his name. Being a quiet, gentle soul, he's known to rarely speak or interact with anyone other than his cubs, his mate or the king. Nursing a deep fear of rejection, he spends most of his life pushing others away, which led to nothing but heartache. Preferring to be a lone wolf, Kamau moves from place to place, searching for something, but never finding it, until he makes the decision to return. Kamau is a bit slow at times, and disagrees with a few of Rena's parenting methods, but knows that it's all for the best. He has a heart of gold and isn't afraid to speak up to anybody.

History:

Born into a pride of lions from across the Northern Mountains, Kamau was the eldest and heir of the Northern Mountain pride after his father's death. Their pride was renowned all over the kingdoms for their snow white pelts. This, however wasn't always such a good thing.

When Kamau was just a young adult, poachers encroached onto their land in huge numbers, shooting down the white lions and taking the cubs. Kamau tried to fight back, but was wounded and forced to watch his parents and younger siblings die trying to defend him. Giving up hope, he ran south while the fighting raged on, and never looked back.

He kept on running and covered distance he didn't know existed. Before long, he found himself in a land with lush green and yellow grass with the sun shining. He felt like an outsider here, being the only one with a white pelt. However, he was a bit too weak to appreciate the environment and collapsed, but not before getting a glance at a lioness coming at him. 

He woke up several hours later in a big rock, with lionesses all around him. Except, these had tawny pelts. Feeling even more like an outsider, he noticed that he had a cast on his leg and some kind of ointment on his wound. Then, he saw a large golden lion with a black amne coming up to him with a baboon at his side. The lion introduced himself as King Ahadi of the Pridelands. Telling the lionesses to leave, he interrogated Kamau, asking him about who he was and where he came from.

Kamau told him about the poachers and about his pride dying, but left out the part about being the heir. Ahadi informed him about his whereabouts and that he was found by a lioness named Rena, but when he asked for her, Ahadi replied, "Rena? Oh, she's in some hot water with her mother right now."

Ahadi told him that he could stay for as long as he wanted and let the baboon tend to his wounds. Only laer did Kamau realize the trouble this so-called Rena was in. He couldn't help but feel guilty about getting her in trouble with her mother. But then she came to visit him and they talked, before her mother found them and separated them.

But this didn't stop them from meeting again and again behind her mother's back. He found that he enjoyed her company, but was struck with the horror of the fact that he was the only surviving member of his entire bloodline. Scared about losing her too, he waited till his wounds had healed and slipped away in the night. Though this broke his heart, he knew it was for the best. 

He made his way back to the mountains, only to find that he had gone the wrong way and was in the territory of another pride. Luckily for him, their king was just as kind as Ahadi and let him stay for a while. In that time, he found another lioness and had an affair with her, but left when he found out that she was pregnant.

Making a decision to go back to the Northern Mountains and reclaim the throne, Kamau set out on a journey to his homeland. But once he arrived he found that a forest fire had destroyed it and the land was beyond healing. He also found that eventually, even those cubs that were taken were killed. Accepting that he was the last lion of the Northern Mountains, he made his way back to Pride Rock, where his heart truly lay. 

When he arrived, he found Rena, who had delivered a beautiful baby girl whom she had named Sarafina. Astounded that he had a daughter, he saw that her pelt, sadly, was not white. Finally letting his pride go, he settled down with the fact that his new family may not be white lions, but they were perfect to him. 

Before long, Rena found herself pregnant once again, and soon gave birth to a boy, who they named Ajani. Sadly, young Ajani contracted a deadly disease in his teen years and even with the shaman Rafiki's expertise, passed away by the light of day. 

Kamau then turned to his daughter, letting Rena take over and only stepping in when needed. To his happiness however, he found that he was made Personal Advisor to King Ahadi, the lion with whom he had made fast friends with.
