Name: Midwa (meaning 'orphaned child')

Personality: Midwa is a silent but strong figure in the Jabali Pride, she may not have been born there but she shows the same spirit. She is gentle but firm, both with her daughters and with her subjects, soothing tempers and ruling in her mate's stead when he is away from his lands. She loves her mate, her daughters and her people fiercely.

History: Midwa was born to a wandering pride known as the Zurura Pride which were originally from the lands now inhabited by the Nyasi Pride. The pride didn't want to bow to the Nyasi Pride and rebelled resulting in the whole pride being slaughtered and the survivors fleeing to wander ever since.

Midwa's birth, along with the birth of her brothers Gethii and Jalali, resulted in the death of their mother Naima. Sokoro, their father, was harsh almost to the point of cruelty and obsessed with reclaiming the lands stolen from them by the Nyasi Pride.

When Midwa was only a young adult, she was kidnapped from her pride by members of the Jabali Pride led by the new King, Manzi.

She was brought back to their lands and deposited in a cave. Frightened for her life, she tied to escape only to be continually caught by Manzi. She expected nothing but brutality from him but even when he caught her he was nothing but gentle with her. She soon grew confused as to why that was and eventually the truth came out that her kidnap was just a ritual and that Manzi wanted her to become his mate. He had watched her from afar for some time and had fallen in love with her and hoped she would come to do the same, if not then he would let her leave as soon as she had borne him a cub.

Midwa agreed to be Manzi's mate, if only that she could bear a cub and then return to her family again. Soon she showed signs of pregnancy and Manzi was delighted, showering her with attention and affection. It was over this time that Midwa began to see that her mate was not the cruel kidnapper she viewed him as...but as a lion, no worse than any other. She soon fell in love with him and by the time their daughters Awiti and Tendai were born, she didn't want to leave the pride at all.

Midwa soon proved that she was just as much part of the Jabali Pride as any member born there, growing into the role of their queen. More than once she had to beat down those who challenged her right to rule at Manzi's side, earning her own set of battle scars and the respect of her people/
