Name: Awiti (meaning 'thrown away' or 'discarded')

Personality: Reckless and impulsive, Awiti rarely thinks of the consequences of her decisions and will often act rashly and somewhat selfishly. She does love her family but doesn't want to be tied down by their veiws and beliefs, she wants freedom but at the same time is too afraid to strike out on her own. When her son Tumaini was born, she became very very protective of him and almost smothering to a degree.

History: Awiti was born in a distant pride, her father was the ruler and her mother was a lioness kidnapped from a travelling pride. Her pride was prone to inbreeding and so new genes were needed to add to the pool making Awiti and her sister Tendai's births a cause to celebrate. No one but their father seemed to mention their nameless half-sister.

Awiti was like many members of their pride, prone to violent temper tantrums when she was younger and only seemed to be mellowed by her sweeter tempered sister. As such, most of the attention was heaped on Tendai as she was the what the pride were looking for: a softer and more stable version of themselves. This didn't stop Awiti and Tendai being very close when they were younger.

As Awiti grew older, she grew more and more rebellious. She would often sneak out of their territory for days at a time and give no answers when she finally did return. She never wandered too far from her home as she was afraid she'd get lost and never be able to return. Her father grew increasingly angry with her ways but Awiti continued to disobey him at every chance she got out of spite.

Finally, Awiti's father had enough. He betrothed his daughter to a rogue male who had pledged him allegiance and her betrothed was careful to monitor when she got too close to the border. This only made Awiti more determined to escape her father.

Eventually, she was mated to the rogue and soon found herself pregnant. Awiti felt more trapped than ever and soon Tendai left the pride on some kind of mission to find their lost half-sister.

Not long before Awiti was to give birth, a peace was negotiated with the nearby Pridelands and to cement this, an official visit was made by King Simba and Queen Nala. It was then that a plan hatched in Awiti's mind. When the King and Queen left to return to their own lands, she would follow after them and escape.
