Well, the way I see it, people won't be giving Kopa up whether Kion's the second-born or not xD

"second born" clearly says there wer no other cubs besides him and Kiara. Kopa and Fluffy are not canon
but yeah that doesn't throw away the semi-canon cause Kopa is pre-Kiara cub.

Instead of assembling a team of young lions to serve with him, Kion challenges tradition by calling upon friends he believes are the best choices -- Bunga, a fearless honey badger; Fuli, a confident cheetah; Beshte, a happy-go-lucky hippo; and Ono, an intellectual egret. Stories will include special appearances by Mufasa, Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, Zazu and Kion's older sister, Kiara, the future Queen of the Pride Lands." So, relax - this seems to still be in TLK2 continuity, and Kion is not "Kopa" [6NA] or the infamous "Fluffy" [name given to the cub at the end of TLK, which soon changed genders for Kiara's existence]. Hurrah for continuity!

I don't care - I am much excited for this series. Based on the people they have for research of cultural and African names and words, it is bound to be something educational and true to the spirit of "The Lion King". Hopefully they will have the original voice cast returning for the major TLK characters [or at least TLK2 cast - Zazu's was the only non-returning voice, and it wasn't bad at all honestly!], especially James Earl Jones for Mufasa! *eeeeeee*

I'm late to all the news! The idea of a TV series spin-off for a second cub of Simba and Nala actually sounds interesting. Kion by himself reminds me a lot of Kopa from the 6NA book series [pre-Kiara/TLK2 times], and he looks a lot like him too [because Kopa was merely cub!Simba with a brown tuft of mane hair on top]. I hope his character is really fleshed out to be likeable and showing how he feels about his royal status [especially being second-in-line like his late uncle Scar was to his own brother, Mufasa], despite the storyline for "The Lion Guard" being meant for young kids.

Wow, I was never expecting this to happen! Joy is rising in me right now, I know I read this late, and I'm glad I did, I mean not in a bad way, just... WOW! I'm so exited to watch this series! DOn't get me wrong, I usually don't watch kid crap on TV, but this (I agree with you Katelyn Holland) si something I've gotta check out. If it's really cheesee, then forget that. But I'm willing to give it a try.

Wow, I looked it up in other sources. It's for the 20th Anniversary of The Lion King, along with the soundtrack. Does it sound logical?

I still don't understand how it throws off Kopa's continuity. Kopa is generally thought to come before Kiara, and Kion here is described as a younger sibling to Kiara. Even if he was her older sibling and at the end of TLK, this throws out any "Fluffy" Theories, as "Fluffy" is the one at the end of TLK, not Kopa.

Or at least, that's what everyone seems to think/agree upon.

You'll be happy to hear that, after a bit of research, I found out that "Kion" is a word of African origin. Specifically, it means "take leadership" in the language of the Massai. It's pronounced "kee-OHN."
