Apple bloom is a yellow earth pony, and the younger sister of Apple Jack and Big Macintosh and granddaughter of Granny Smith. She's eager to get her cutie mark, and will go to desperate measures to get it: So much so that she and Sweetie belle and Scootaloo founded the "Cutie mark crusaders", which is dedicated to helping ponies find their cutie mark. Other ponies part of the cmc included Babs seed, annd two other fillies in Manehatten (not named, but mentioned in Apple family reunion).

At Ponyville school, she is taught by Cheerilee, in a class of other school ponies, including Sweetie belle, Scootaloo, Diamond Tiara, Silver spoon and more. Diamond tiara is often openly rude and a plain bully to Apple bloom and the other CMC (minus Babs), and Silver Spoon is always backing her up as a sort of sidekick.
