While a lady's man and total charmer on stage, behind curtains Summer is just an overdramatic goofball that wears his heart on his sleeve. He often attracts attention from mares and stallion alike across Equestria, but though it may be flattering, he's more interested in the latest episode of his favourite soap opera than any mare or stallion.

how his parents meet

From the very first day Twilight met Rainbow in Ponyville, the cyan pegasus never fully left her mind. She found it hard to admit it to herself, but she was certainly developing feelings for her.

During their expeditions with the map in Twilight's castle, the two were called away to a small, riverside town to resolve a friendship problem, as was usual. The town was quiet, and well known for it's beautiful lake, formed after the building of their notorious dam hundreds of years ago.

But, upon their arrival, there was no clear problem for the two to solve. The townspeople were happy, and there seemed to be no reason to be there. As the two crossed the town dam to reach the rest of the village, the two tried to figure out what the problem was, but it quickly rose out of control.

Their discussion became an argument, and the two were stomping their hooves at each other in frustration as their voices rose into a shouting match. The dam, old and unadjusted to this much battering, cracked under the pressure of their hooves: the concrete crumbled quickly away at their feet.

The two suddenly plummeted into the water below. Twilight was quickly able to teleport herself out to safety, but it was only too late when she realised she hadn't teleported Rainbow away with her. Rainbow, unable to use magic and any attempts to fly just splashing the water around her, struggled in the curents of the water

Twilight acted without even thinking: She dived down to just inches above the water. Just as she caught sight of Dash, the pegasus hit her head on a rock and fell unconscious, seemingly doomed to drown. Twilight pulled her out with her magic, using all her power to pull her against the current of the water, and brought her to one of the clouds overhead.

Twilight layed her down, but she didn't seem to be breathing, and there were no signs of movement or life at all. Twilight had very little knowledge on first aid, but at this stage, she was prepared to do anything to save her life.

She attempted a resuscitation spell.

Nothing happened.

She tried again, nothing happened. She tried again and again and again, tears streaming down her face and clouding her vision, but every time she tried, Rainbow remained just as still and lifeless in front of her. There was nothing she could do.

Twilight layed down beside her. Her tears turned into muffled sobs, as she buried her face against Rainbow's wet neck. She’d lost all hope. Guilt took over her, as she knew she could have saved her if she’d just managed to teleport Rainbow as well, or if they weren’t even fighting in the first place.

Time went on by, and things were settling down as the water below drifted into a steady flow. Twilight was growing weary at this point, and was slowly beginning to drift off to an uneasy sleep, when she caught sight of something moving beside her

Rainbow spluttered and coughed, regaining her lost consciousness as she grasped for air. Twilight watched, red-eyed and snivelling, as Rainbow's life returned to her slowly.

She was alive.

Before Rainbow could even open her mouth to speak, Twilight flung her hooves around her, and pressed her lips against hers. Tears still rolled down her cheeks, and Rainbow's mouth was wet from the river water, but she didn't care, it didn't matter. She was alive and that was all that mattered to her.

And just like that, their cutie marks were glowing.

After that, the two began to date. Rainbow moved in with Twilight after just a year, and a year or two after that the two were happily married. Wanting a family of their own, Twilight was able to find an old spell, that would allow the two to have a biological child of their own, despite the fact both of them were mares- they had their first child, and then a 2nd: Summer Ballad

Summer Ballad had about a peaceful childhood as you could get with both your parents being active protectors of Equestria: but through it all, he was loved and protected at all costs. When he was old enough, Twilight tried her hardest to train him into a prince of Equestria: but the colt just wasn’t interested. He loved his mother, and wanted to impress her, but all these royal meetings and rituals were rather dull and dreary for the drama loving colt he was.

Summer, instead, chose to follow a path of singing and songwriting. While Twilight was not overly impressed to begin with, and tried hard to steer him away, it was evident that this was who he was meant to be, and was confirmed once he received his cutie mark. Twilight knew there was not much she could do but accept him for who he was and support him in his endavours: and, well, maybe she went a bit too far on that. She became an over supportive soccer mom, and his iggest number one fan when his career took off fully later in life.

Of course, Summer was cared for by the rest of the mane six too: He ended up spending a lot of time with Fluttershy specifically, and her adoptive daughter, Maledic. When his parents were away on important businessess (wonderbolt training, important duties, or callings by the map) he spent most of his time at Fluttershy’s cottage, and playing with the draconequus cub Maledic there as well, who became his best friend.

Summer had a mildly successful music career all by himself, but fan numbers sky rocketed after word got out to the public of the Equestrian prince with a spectacular voice like his. Despite his orientation, mares still pined for him, and he became an idol across Equestria. His mother and Maledic were still has number one fans through all this however, even if they argued with each other over who got the title. And, despite it all, Summer never let the fame go to his head: sure, he was a drama queen, but he always had been, and he never thought of himself as more or less than anypony.
