An animated short titled Hammy's Boomerang Adventure was released on October 19, 2006 with the film’s DVD. It is also viewable as a special feature on DreamWorks' Madly Madagascar DVD.

Directed by veteran Disney animator Will Finn, the short features RJ hosting his show “RJ's Wild World of Nature” in which Hammy is given a boomerang to be “pranked” with.
