History

Lonan was born in Little Creek's Lakota village. His father was Mikasi, a stubborn stallion who considered himself leader of all the Lakota horses. His mother, Roam, was a horse of the Pueblo Indian Tribes by birth.

Lonan was a tear-away, wild natured young foal, considered a bit eccentric with his funny habits, who often made a nuisance of himself by doing dangerous and crazy things - running at breakneck speed through the camp, for no apparent reason, was one of them (and not seldom did he succeed in knocking over a few people in his way). He had to be fenced-in in the end, and dealt with firmness and discipline by the experienced braves of the Lakota tribe, who hoped to rid Lonan of his wild habits in time.

In some ways Lonan's craziness did succumb - he became easier to control, less wild in character and did much of what his masters wished of him - but in others he remained the same old, funny Lonan, who annoyed the tribe folk and their horses alike with his strange ideas and little wacky ways. He was soon known to many as Tashunke-Witke (Lakota for ''crazy horse'').

Lonan soon drifted from life as a Lakota horse, having no owner as nobody was interested in claiming him. In time he secured himself in a small herd of Mustangs, known simply as the Little Horses. The leader of the herd, a sluggish but powerful stallion called Incapaz, was not happy with Lonan's presence and tried to drive the newcomer away. But Lonan was not easily got rid of; he managed to stick around the herd, avoiding getting into a fight with Incapaz. 

During Lonan stay with the Little Horses, a mare joined their company. Her name was Night Light, and she had lost her owner to sickness and finally (she guessed) death. Night Light stayed close by Lonan since first joining the Little Horses, and they became mates; but about this Incapaz grew very stroppy, worried that Lonan and Night Light were aiming to take over his herd. So he rallied his strength to evict the pair, and succeeded. Lonan and Night Light, untroubled so long as they had each other, soon found another herd to join: the Panthera.

In time Night Light bore a son, Keme II. Not long after, Lonan became the Second-In-Command of his new herd after the old Captain, Neero, retired.

Relation the the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Universe: born a Lakota horse, and lived in the Lakota camp until his late colt years. Lives in a herd led by Spirit's son Pantha.
