H I S T O R Y 

Macawi was born of the Lead Mare to a tribe she'd never come to know. Due to unfortunate circumstances, she did not know her mother for more than 2 years of her life. She became lost, wandering around to any herd that might shelter her. It had been her fourth herd, there she met Hotah, the only horse she'd come to love. The two had an unbreakable bond, like perfect halves of a single whole. The two had a foal together, but tragically, she lost sight of her colt in the blazes of a forest fire. Hotah, not knowing it would lead to his certain death, went into the fire, searching for their lost foal. Maka believes the both of them to be dead. She has become very quiet, some believe her to still be depressed over her mate and son's deaths. While on their way to Cimarron Herd, Spirit and Rain met Macawi, becoming polite aquaintances, Maka checks in on them every so often. Because of her frequent visits, she has become good friends with the two, even getting to know The Eagle. The entire Cimarron Herd has welcomed her before, but she refused, wanting to stick to her lone, nomadic ways. However, because of this, she has become an honorary member and is welcomed each time she visits.

Relation to Spirit

Met Spirit and Rain and has grown to be good friends with them, keeping in contact and meeting up. Rain and Maka have become particularly close friends after talking about their pasts, their interests, and occasional gossip. The Eagle has also grown fond of her as well. She plays with him, and loves that he keeps her company. During her usually long visits to The Cimarron Herd, she plays and watches over the twin foals and socialises with many of the mares in the herd. Her and Esperanza often talk about their lives, their mates and their sons. Sometimes, when talking about her son or Hotah, Maka will sometimes weep and Esperanza and a few other mares will comfort her.
