Personality: While Viking is very loyal, he is also very mule-headed and rather aggressive. If his faithful companion Annie is nearby he is a perfect gentleman for anyone around him, but when she's away, "the boys will play." He find great fun in making idle (and not-so-idle) threats to stable hands, as well as other horses, just to create waves. Flirting with the mares? Yes, please! He is very territorial and kept as far away as possible from other stallions and geldings to help demote fights. He has only select mares.

History: Viking was rescued when he was a long yearling (not yet 2) from an Arizona rancher who refused to take good care of the yearling because of his ill temper and "Mustang Spirit." Annie bought him from the previous owner for two dollars. The yearling was slightly malnurished and poorly trained -- Annie worked with him for three more years before he was finally broken in for riding. However, the horse would not let anyone but Annie near him, let alone ride him. Hence, he became her personal horse; used for herding, personal riding, and competitions.

Relation to Spirit: Annie West, Viking's owner, has an alliance with the Lakotah. As a gift, she presented a young Rain, a horse that she bred and raised herself, to Little Creek. With this connection, Viking and Rain spent a lot of time together. Viking was a big-brother figure and was a "support beam" during Rain's training. When Annie worked with Rain she would often have Viking around. The Natives (even some other than Lakotah) work for her in exchange for goods, food, and livestock. Annie also attends tribe events and goes trail riding/hunting with the tribal members and trains most of their horses for them.
