Sonya's mother was a wild mustang mare, that was tamed, and decided to live in the village. Her mother fell in love with her father (an appaloosa stallion) and became mates. She later became pregnant and gave birth to Sonya. Sonya was different then the other foals because she was part mustang. She would play more roughly with the foals, since her mother was a wild mare. Sonya didn't have friends. The foals her age would call her horrible names, because she was part mustang, and most of the horses there were appaloosas, or paints. When she became older, she matured, and wouldn't let anything bother her. The foals that bothered her as a filly, were now older, and became her friends. She bumped into a mustang stallion named Spirit. They became good friends until he ran away with Rain.
