Spirit: Spirit has been his best friend for many years.

History

He woke from his deep slumber.  His mother nuzzed him with her pale palomino nose.  She was tall and amazing.  Her forelock hung in her eyes.  He wobbled and stood.  Once fed and rested he tried to run.  He fell down a few times but didnt give up trying.  Up and over the hill he ran, his mother coming after him worried that me might run into the mountain lion that had been hanging around.  She caught up with him and trotted next to him,  he reared and bucked a few times and walked back to the herd.  All around him where horses.  A small dun trotted up to him.  

"Hi im Spirit"

"Hello.  Im Sword"

"Wanna go play?"

"Can I mom?" he asked

"stay out of trouble and stay away from the woods!"

The two ran off trough the horses legs and into a clear spot.   They chased eachother and reared and bucked.  They where having a great deal of fun.  They didnt know it but they where being watched by two yellow eyes.  The mountain lion blinked and leaped out to attack them.  Sword froze in fear.  Spirit reared and slashed him with his hooves.  The lead stallion came bolting down the hill in a few moments.  he chased him off and told the two to stay close to the herd.  They both where in shock. 

For the next few mounths him ans Spirit played together.   Sometimes getting into trouble and other times staying good.  Over the year the two where best friends.  Each day hanging out.  Each day getting into some kind of trouble. Sometimes Sweetness wished she named him Trouble.  Then came the girls.  Each of them being good looking they kind of followed them around.  Sword would ofted get annoyed with them and lay his ears back but Spirit wouldnt get annoyed offten.  Much more of a ladies man then Sword.  Sword was taller then Spirit by a hand.  He was fasher and stronger,  but not as good with the ladies.  

    One day when they where yearlings, Strider, the lead stallion, was out walking. A cougar had attacked him and gotten him.  Esperanza went out searching for him and she stayed out longer then expected. It was late that night when she came back.  Her eyes where red from crying.  She called Spirit aside from Sword.  Sword backed up and talked to a filly that was his good friend.  When Spirit came back he looked at Sword and said.  

"Hes gone" 

"Strider?"

"Yes,  cougar mom says" 

Spirit  tried not to cry but Sword said it was ok and the two went though it together.  Sword was sad because he knew how important Strider was to Spirit. The two became even more bonded after this.  One day Sword knew he had to leave.  He told Spirit that he would be back one day.  After he got his mares as a mate.
