I've just read an article about Siberian Husky eye colour and saw some photos of SH as huskies and adults. Some people are wondering why Aleu's markings changed or why people are making-up their versions of Balto's pups with different eye colour.

First off - fur. Husky's fur colour and markings may change as it grows(ans so does wolves too). For example a black puppy may turn into a red or grey later. It's still a little weird about Kodi and Aleu, because their markings get darker, while Husky's markings fades to lighter when they grow.

Now eyes. Husky's eyes are often getting lighter or darker as they grow. Especially in red-white coat(as Jenna and her pups), eyes often get lighter. So don't get confused if you see that someone made a grown-up version of Balto and Jenna's pups whose eyes are diffferent than they were in movie.

As I said, the bar-faced pup is one of the two whose genders we do not know. The other is the red-faced pup. Despite fans' preferences on that, we simply do not know the gender - just as we do not know its name (in spite of some fans wanting to believe it is Dingo simply because someone once identified the pup by that name in fan art or fan fiction or an article).

But the bar-faced had blue eyes xD well maybe this was just the random thing that two maled had brown eyes and two females had blue?

Frankly, I don't think the production designer or the artists put that much minute research into dog genetics and physical traits. I think they were simply going for basic designs. And usually it seems that, in Balto & Jenna's puppies, any females tended to have blue eyes (take Saba and Aleu most especially), and the males tended to have brown eyes (note Kodi and Dingo). The two pups whose gender we don't know are the red-faced pup and the bar-nosed pup. But they both seemed to have brown eyes which, in theory, would make them both males (if the coloration of the eyes thing was meant to be consistent with gender across the board).
