Steele's breed?

malamute or husky???

anileu :

Ok, i've been hearing all these arrguments over what Steele is. I'm not sure, but here's what I say.....

husky

malamute

Now, why would Steele want to have pups with Jenna ( a husky ) if he only likes purebreds? I think he looks like a malamute, but he seems more like a husky...I'm stuck on this. I say husky cuz of his personality and cause that's how he's built. Malamutes aren't used very much for sled work cause husky's are stronger and built heavier, so i've read.

Please tell me you opinion....just don't bite my head off!

i think steele is a malamute and all the little things like eye color
are animation related. i mean the animaters are not going to make
every little thing PERFECT and UNDERSTANDABLE.

I think Malamute. I saw a picture of one that looked exactly like
Steele! Also, Steele was a lot bigger built than the huskies around
him. About the whole Jenna thing though, I don't think he hated all
half-breeds. He just hated all wolves and half-wolves but that's just
me. Also, huskies (atleast purebreads) only get up to 60 pounds.
Steele looked way hevier and Alaskan malamutes can get up to 95. Also,
they are more bigger and stronger built than huskies (atleast I read
in books.) Also, he probably wasn't part husky to all you who think he
is part husky part Malamute. Remember Balto said, "Since when do you
need a pedadree to help someone?" So yeah. That's what I think.

Well I say he's a malamute because he looks more like one.
Huskies (like what Star and Kaltag probably are) are
smaller, and Malamutes are larger and more muscular, like
Steele. It seems pretty obvious to me.

I'm
also aware of the "blue eyes" argument, and I posted an
article about that a while ago. I had found a picture of a
purebred Mal that had blue eyes.

P.S. No one
ever said that Steele didn't like mix breeds. He only hated
Balto because he was half wolf. Steele (and pretty much
everyone else) was not very fond of wolves.

I think he's an alaskan Malimute because he looks to big to
be a husky, I think he looks more like an alaskan malimute,
and I saw on another site that he was an alaskan malimute. I
could be wrong of course. I just think that all the info
points to that.

malmutes are lager than huskys but I think steele was a
husky because usually malemautes arent as tall as steele was
in the movie. So I think he is a husky to.

Maybe Steel is a crossbreed who was to ashamed to tell
anyone. He could be Half Malmamute and Half Husky...

I agree he does seem like a husky. Also i read that huskies
are used for sled pulling more. (strange)

whats rli often seen by huskies though

Ok, first of all....

1.) Steel is an
Alaskan Malamute, because he's WAY to big to be a husky, and
have you looked at his paws?

2.) Steel never
said he liked only pure breeds, he just doesn't like wolves.
And besides, Jenna's pretty, so what's wrong with that?

i think he was a husky, because if he loved jenna and if he
loved her that much he'd have had pups with her,but if he
was a mamulate,and she was a husky,they'd be mixed
breeds, and steele wouldnt like that would he.

Good question, I've always thought he was a malamute. Infact
I was reading something and it says he is a malamute. But,
its strange that in the movie the make up him as a malamute
and Balto a wolf/husky even though Balto was truely a
malamute himself.

Well, Demon, what's so unusual about a resident of Nome, AK
owning an Afghan or other non-spitz breeds? I just find it
incredibly weird when people wonder why those dogs are there
"because they're not Alaskan/American dogs!" But a breed's
region of origin has nothing to do with where they can live;
they could be anywhere, unless they're an extremely rare
breed that isn't found outside its native land. O.o Anyway,
you're right that they didn't make too much distinction
among the dogs except for those that are clearly
"other"--non-spitz. They may have meant for them all to be
Huskies, but then again, Universal apparently said they did
have Malamute in mind for Steele since they were larger and
thus more intimidating. *shrug* Doesn't matter; works either
way.

wow.... now I'm confused...... too bad we can't email the
animators of who made Balto and ask them to clear this up.

My opinion is that the animators didn't want to make all the
dogs differents breeds. I think that all the dogs were meant
to be huskys excluding the obvious others like Jenna's
friends or the little dog who couldn't get through the door.
Mainly back when the movie was made, huskys were mainly the
types of dogs used to pull sleds in Alaska, altough I have
no idea breeds like the afghan hound (Jenna's friend) would
be there in the first place.

Steele, a mixed breed? I dunno, seems very unlikely. Anyway,
according to something Cobalt posted, Universal actually
CONFIRMED that they intended Steele to be a Malamute--if
that's true, then yaaay, my first instinct was right! XD Of
course, I doubt it will keep some from continuing to think
he's a Husky, which is fine, in my view, since I do *not*
always take the "official" word for it, b/c sometimes I seem
to know a lot more about dogs than they do..~^

Gosh I've seen so many of these debates... I don't really
care >.> BUT, you have a point about Steele only liking pure
breds, he would be hypocritical if he liked Jenna a husky if
he was a malamute. On the other hand we are talking about
Steele here. Less not we forget he is a liar and a stuck up
snob... so yeah ^^
