History: Taiga was born to two Siberian Huskies in Juneau, Alaska. She and most of her siblings were all trained to be sled dogs like their father was, and when she was about two months old, she was bought by a musher in Nome who saw great potential in her as a racing dog. Taiga was reluctant about leaving her family, but knew going to Nome would give her the greatest opportunity possible to be a racing dog like her father and make him proud.
Taiga trained tirelessly with the other dogs and was quickly known for her unrelenting determination. As she reached one year of age, she joined a race to be on the champion racing team of Nome, lead by Balto, the town hero. However, sometime during the race, she slipped on ice and fell, breaking her paw, and thus eliminating her from the competition. Taiga was heartbroken; she really wanted the chance to work with the most famous dog in Alaska. However, she figured that once she healed, she would train some more, and be even better by the time the race came around next year. So, as the year went by, she got a job on a supply carrying team, which greatly helped her to not only strengthen her sled dog skills but also her teamwork and leadership skills. Eventually, Balto’s team held another race to see which dogs would join the team, and Taiga made it this time. Her happiness didn’t last for long, though; Balto went out of commission, meaning Taiga wouldn’t get to work with him like she had hoped. However, Taiga still found hope. She made a great friend in her teammate, Kaltag’s son Cooper, and soon they fell in love and became mates, having two litters of puppies. So many of Taiga’s dreams had come true — she got a spot on Nome’s best racing team, and now had a family of her own.
Relation to Balto: Kaltag’s daughter-in-law
