Characteristics

Personality: Stubborn, straightforward, confident, carefree, bright, and cheerful. She doesn't take much seriously, as shown when she faces conflict she shows confidence and makes jokes. Yang is the type of person that finds it difficult to work around problems instead of facing them straight on. 
Talents/ Abilities: Yang has the combined strength of both of her parents making her the strongest female in her generation. Her strenght rivals that of the strongest males in Nome, including Steele's and Balto's descendants.
Weaknesses: Has difficulty working around problems (i.e. if a door is closed she'll try to crash through it rather than find a way out the window)
Dreams: She doesn't really have any.
Fears: Fire.

History

Yang was born in Rune and Reiner's first litter together. She looked up to her older brothers Vav and Lei, and seemed to have the strongest relationship with them compared to her other siblings. 

Yang seems to be the most compassionate towards Sindey's conflicted feelings towards his biological mother, Alicyn, and even decides to help him travel across Alaska to find and confront Alicyn for abandoning Vav and Lei. Yang actually ran away with Vav despite Reiner's warnings not to hunt down Alicyn, leaving her parents heartbroken and sparks conflict between Rune and Reiner.

While out running through the wilderness going from town to town, Yang proves to be the muscle while Vav is the brains of their duo. Together they manage to survive wolf territories, hunters, bears, and the harsh Alaskan climate. Yang encounters a long wolf named Seine whom she grows to admire, and is eventually torn to either follow him or finish her journey with Vav. Yang decides to go with Seine, leaving Vav to confront Alicyn alone. 

Yang eventually feels conflicted for abandoning her older brother and runs after him to see his mission through to the end. She runs into Vav right as he decides to not confront Alicyn. Yang gives Vav a pep talk and tells him with brutal honsety that he needs to tell Alicyn how he feels about her abandoning her. Alicyn then actually runs into Vav and Yang and admits that she recognized Vav the minute she saw him at the Town Dog meeting.

Yang helps Vav reconcile with Alicyn before returning to Nome with the help of her wolf guide Seine. She reconciles with Rune and Reiner and takes Reiner's place on the sled team. Rune retires and in turn, Nikki's son Bayard takes her spot as wheel dog. 

Yang finds herself in a love triangle with Bayard and Seine. The conflict escalates to the point where Bayard and Seine fight over Yang, and Yang intervenes in the conflict. She tells Seine to leave Nome, and he runs off. Yang is actually upset about being so harsh to Seine, but doesn't know what to do since she is supposed to breed with Bayard. Bayard recognizes that he wants Yang to be happy, and Rune convinces Reiner that Yang cannot be happy in Nome since she is a vagabond at heart. Bayard runs off to find Seine to tell him to be with Yang, and brings him back to Nome. While Yang is moping around in the barn, Rune tells her that there is someone there to see her. She tells her mother that she's not in the mood, but her spirits are lifted when Seine says her name.

Yang says goodbye to her family in Nome and decides to move out into the wild with Seine to live out a happy ending as a vagabond.
