If any of you remember the page I made awhile back on the true facts of Balto, I have since revamped the page completely. What I originally had there was minimal, and I felt that the page would be more complete if I included actual information on Balto verses just laying down a few random facts. The truth about Balto

Balto's breed:

A lot of people argue that Balto is part wolf due to the the animated movie. That's not the case, Balto never was part wolf. He was 100% Siberian Husky.

Balto's color:

Like a lot of you, you've seen the pictures, or perhaps even went to the Cleveland museum yourself. What you see is a brown dog. Then you think "Wrong! Balto wasn't black! He's brown!" WRONG. Balto was never brown to begin with. The bright lights from the museum faded Balto's fur over time from black to the brown we now see.

Comparison:

As you can see, the photo to the left is far more dark than the one to the right. If Balto were to be brown he would look like that in all of his photos.

Offspring:
Balto never had any pups. Leonhard Seppala considered Balto to be a scrub (meaning inferior or slow-working dog) dog for being barrel chested, and therefore was netured at 6 months of age. Also, due to these facts, Balto was used for bringing supplies to gold miners.
