Tyler: Near's closest friend currently, Near met Tyler when the Silver Herd member "rescued" him from a roving group of young bucks. Near became very attached to Tyler after that, visiting him very regularly.

Ronno – Bully toward Near. He hates Near’s strange tendancies and makes it absolutely known, but never gets Near manipulated into a fight.

Character Traits

Personality:
Cold, quiet, and very observant. Near is extremely smart, but is not usually capable of proving that. Rarely hangs around others, and tends to stay near very few others – those that he does, he is very close and attached to. He requires their confidence and support nearly always, and is very codependent. He is somewhat tactless, and extremely straightforward. He has a very childlike demeanor, and tends to ignore others who try to irritate or bully him. He can be quite manipulative, and tends to be stand-offish.

Social Situations: Near is nearly completely incompetent socially, and tends to fall into shut-down if he is alone in a new social situation, such as his first time at the rut or being challenged, or even just being confronted by a stranger or some doe fawn’s crush.

Strengths:
Manipulation: Talented at lying and using the demeanors and ideas of others to his own gain.
Clever: Near is very smart, though he can’t always show it, and is very good at maneuvering out of situations – or into them – as he sees fit.
Weaknesses:
Codependent: Near is cripplingly codependent on his friend(s)/mother, and cannot function without them around, especially in new social situations. He will not go into a new herd area, grazing area, ect. Alone, and is completely incapacitated by his codependence.
  Shut-down: Should Near be forced into a situation he’s uncomfortable with – the rut, for example – he fails completely to function and shuts down altogether. He will not acknowledge, speak, or even look at anyone until he can either relieve the situation or he is “rescued” from it.
Weak: Near is very physically weak, and knows it – he’s incapable of taking on any bucks of average size. Fortunately, he hardly minds.
 Immature: Near is physically immature. He stood, walked, spoke, grew antlers, and lost his spots late, and generally lacks in physical awareness. He never grew at the same rate as other fawns.

History:
Near was born in Bambi’s herd to a mother who had escaped the domination of a buck who had enforced total isolation on his herd. When she got there, she had a hard time breaking that habit. She never really readjusted from isolation and this was the trait that Near was raised with. He never really minded, and as a fawn, she always could tell he was different – this didn’t help to break away from the isolation she raised him in. He was extremely dependent on her, and everything he did was late – he took longer to walk, speak, and meet others even.
Eventually, though, she coaxed him into the meadow. He was extremely unresponsive, not wanting to speak to anyone else, and even purposely avoided others. However, once Bambi and Faline approached him while he was with his mother, and they introduced themselves, he told them what he’d already gathered. By the time they tried to give them, Near already had noted their names, as well as the fact that the red fawn not far away – and watching – was a bullyish type who was jealous of Bambi not only for being the son of the Great prince, but also for having Faline’s attentions. He was eventually got to play with the pair for a bit, but was clearly not comfortable.
He left them after that. Eventually, though, he met them again – this time, however, Near was also confronted with a bully: Ronno, who immediately set to making fun of both him and Bambi. Whilst Bambi reacted rather badly, as he could only be expected to, Near simply failed to acknowledge Ronno in any way, shape, or form.
It didn’t help.
Ronno grew irritated and eventually resorted to force, leaving a scar on the pale fawn’s foreleg before Faline got him to stop.
Near didn’t seem particularly upset over the incident, but after Ronno was gone, made a note to avoid the brute out loud.
He didn’t often hang around Faline or Bambi, but did appreciate their company when he was.
As the three grew, so did Bambi’s antlers. Near’s did not – his didn’t come in until late summer, and he still hadn’t lost his spots, and ended up never shedding a few out from his shoulder. Of course, he was mocked some for it, even by Faline’s brother, Gobo, who never meant any harm by it.

Not long before the rut was to begin, Near's antlers were still in velvet, and would remain that way until after the rut had ended. With antlers in velvet, he dediced that he wnted to wander about the forest alone. When he did, he found himself in the home meadow of the Silver Herd. wandering the edges, not wanting to get to close, Near found himself confronted by a group of rovers. They were cowardly bullies, and set right to mocking Near mean-spiritedly over his spotted shoulders and tiny size.It was more than he could handle, and Near shut down. This didn't stop them - they only got worse.

However, a foreign buck with a light gold coat intervened. He chased the bucks off and before too long, Near recovered from his fit. The buck introduced himself as Tyler. Near decided to hang around him, and found his personality matched Tyler's perfectly - Tyler did a lot of talking, and Near enjoyed listening to him very much. Near soon became a friend of Tyler's, and as Near's singular friend, became quite attached to him.
